I felt that as far as a true pros and cons list for both the TF2 classes, there has been none made so far that stress these enough. They do rather simplistic views, but they simply don't get to the bottom of the classes strengths and consequentially its limits. So in the post, I will attempt to construct the most accurate pros and cons for the classes I can.

Scout
Pros:
- Great at flanking
- Fastest class in the game
- Utility secondary weapons
- Double Jump
- Great for control points and CTF
- Can play a great melee class with careful flanking

Cons:
- Has no truly effective long range method (although a pistol if used right can be fairly effective)
- 125 health, which means you'll be shredded by virtually everything if caught without meatshields, skilled evasion, or a proper escape path
- The Scattergun only seems to do rock solid damage at close range unless you happen to get a crit

Soldier
Pros:
- Can rocket jump to clear distances fast.
- Can fire rockets which can instantly kill any enemy at close range if shot correctly
- Can break up strong groups with splash damage.
- Is attractive to medics, so there's a chance you'll get an uber for serious rampage.
- 200 health is the 2nd highest natural, meaning you can take a beating
- Has powerful buffs that can greatly increase your teams effectiveness.

Cons:
- Second slowest class in the game, makes him a target for spies and snipers
- Rockets can hurt the Soldier, but because of high health, this usually isn't a problem.
- Unless lucky, Soldiers fare poorly in melee without a rocket jump.
- Soldiers are terrible at range, aside from shooting a rocket in an enemy-filled tunnel

Pyro
Pros:
- Great at flanking
- Despite what the wiki says, Pyros are actually the third fastest class in TF2, which is pretty good.
- Has 175 health, which means he's fairly tough
- Immune to afterburn
- Has an airblast which can manipulate an enemy's position and put out fires on friendly teammates.
- Your go-to guy for spy-checking.
- Can do a super jump if his secondary is the Detonator.

Cons:
- Has terrible long range options
- Outside of point-blank shotguns or a proper Backburner Ambush, he has rather weak burst damage capabilities, and relies on combos involving his primary, secondary, airblasts, and melee in different combinations (depending on the situation) This could leave you exposed to an enemy counterattack from your victim's friends.
- No utility outside of airblast.

Demoman
Pros:
- Master of area denial, makes life a living pit for the offense
- With the right sticky setup, you could wipe out entire teams
- 175 health means he's pretty hardy
- Great melee setup with the demoknight option
- Can sticky jump, which has a higher jump than rocket jump

Cons:
- No utility
- Unless you're incredibly skilled or have the demoknight setup, close range combat will be a chore
- Unlike the Soldier, Grenades and Stickies can hurt you noticeably, and with enough can easily kill you.
- Pure Demoknight build relies purely on careful movement and ambushing roamers.
- Without the Loch N Load, the Demo's nades travel slowly, so using them as a direct hit weapon takes extreme skill.

Heavy
Pros:
- 300 Health, toughest class in the game, so can take a beating more than any other class
- Stakes claim to the minigun, which in the right hands is rivalled by very few weapons
- Very attractive to medics, you may get many uber opportunities in pubs, sometimes in comp play
- Has very unique self-helping secondaries

Cons:
- His main weapon requires a rev time, and in turn also makes him move even slower than he already is.
- In some situations, if an enemy catches you when you're not revved, you'll be in trouble without a medic or backup.
- Outside of his sandvich, none of a Heavy's secondaries benefit the team.
- Slowest move speed in the game, makes him a target for spies and snipers.
- Melee is strong, but without the Buffalo Steak Sandvich, you don't have the speed to match against most other classes with your melee weapon, and at this point requires lucky strafing.

Engineer
Pros:
- Has a sentry, which can be built up to 3 tiers. Once it hits level 2-3 it becomes a fierce ally for your team.
- Can make dispensers, which allows your team to grab resources without scouring the map for them and wasting time
- Can make teleporters, which helps your team establish quicker, stronger offenses/defenses.
- Has a mini-sentry, which excels at offensive play.

Cons:
- Is metal-dependant, and without a dispenser set up, requires you to be close to ammo kits, meaning that your positions are predictable, and perhaps easily countered before you get set up.
- Spies are especially made to break your gear. Without a proper entrenchment, a spy will destroy you and everything you just built, making your difficult (and sometimes boring) job more stressful and more difficult.
- Only has 125 health, and with his subpar weaponry isn't meant to be a ballsy fighter, so you'll find yourself retreating often when your gear gets trashed.
-Unless you're an offensive engy, your job is very straightforward and repetitive, and therefore can be boring for some. And because 6v6 bans the mini sentry, you may not want this class for comp play if you prefer a more offensive class.

Medic
Pros:
- Has the medigun, which defines your class. You are extremely valuable because of this gun. At full ubercharge, it can unleash the Ubermenge, which allows you and your partner to merrily roflstomp your enemies for 8 seconds without fear of death
- Your weapons sometimes have a direct benefit to your ability to uber, which means more pushes or a better defense.
- 150 health, while it's not as high as a few of the others, it's still a 25+ lead over the lowest, and that gives you a bit more time to retreat, especially since you're the 2nd fastest class in the game.
- Your health slowly regenerates over time, adding a sense of toughness to your character,
- Has very helpful taunts for the team.
- Makes a great team captain character for leading a team to victory, as he can pay attention to the battlefield more than any other class and is at the heart of a charge.

Cons:
- Not meant to be a fighter. Can backpedal and maybe kill inexperienced players, but should not actively seek combat
- Although the medigun keeps your target healed well, YOU on the other hand are not getting healed other than your natural regen, so stay out of danger's sight. However, if your patient decides to go gung-ho into enemy territory without being close to an uber, you'll have to run and find another patient as you're only effective as long as your alive, so you need competent teammates to be effective.
- Explosions and airblasts can break apart uber teams, which can lead to a nasty death if you're caught out of uber in a busy battlezone.

Sniper
Pros:
- Has the best long range damage in the game hands down.
- Is capable of a headshot which is the most powerful hitscan attack in the game, dealing anywhere from 150-500 damage depending on which sniper rifle/bow you use.
- Has very handy secondaries for every situation
- Kukri has insane reach and damage, making it a highly effective counter-tool to melee-aggressive opponents.

Cons:
- Outside of the Kukri and SMG, he has no way of effectively handling close range pressure
- 125 health, which means you'll be shredded by virtually everything if caught without meatshields, skilled evasion, or a proper escape path
- Due to low ammo, you have to be pretty good at aiming with this class.
- Requires split-second timing with the sniper rifle, although if you dislike that you may opt out for the Huntsman, but in exchange for more mobility, visibility, and offensive positioning, you lose your hitscan advantage.

Spy
Pros:
- Can cloak, allowing him to temporarily move (or move with impunity if you count the Cloak and Dagger) undetected.
- Can disguise as both enemy or friendly targets, to allow you to move freely among enemies to setup an ambush, or to lull an enemy into a false strategy only to catch them with your deadly revolver, or perhaps a thought-out backstab setup.
- A spy can use the revolver, an incredibly fast-firing, fast-reloading, and well balanced weapon.
- His knife can essentially instantly kill an enemy if he backstabs them from behind. Short of uber, it works on any target.
- Can sap engineer tech, making it easier for your team to advance unhampered.

Cons:
- 125 health, which means you'll be shredded by virtually everything if caught without meatshields, skilled evasion, or a proper escape path
- Pyros are your worst enemy, if set on fire, you are most likely dead for sure as spies feel more flammable than most classes.
- Can be difficult to stop an engineer if they position their gear properly, leading to a potential shotgun to the face.
- Your stealth gear makes noises when coming out of stealth mode, so it requires some spacing away from the enemy, making your effective window against skilled enemies small.
- Your knife sucks at actual combat, so if the enemy is facing you, rely on your revolver and backpedal away from danger instead.
-Wearing a disguise requires some knowledge of how the enemy and respective class move. If you don't do it correctly, you can be easily figured out.
- This class requires patience, good timing, experience, and quite a bit of skill. Probably moreso than most classes in the game.

Let me know if you feel this is accurate, or needs improvement. And this doesn't take every last weapon into account, so bear that in mind. Thanks!

A++ Amazing thread! Would read again.

I even learned some stuff I didn't even know about.

Soldier
Pros:
- Kill medics
- Best class
- Market Gardener

Cons:
- [To be added at future updates]

A question to the admins or mods. Can this be made a sticky, since it's a very handy guide for newcomers?

I enjoyed reading this. Great to help Newcomers and I personally would like to see this made into a sticky.

I think this is great, but maybe get some input from players with extensive experience on some of the classes. Maybe get more of an in depth look, then get it stickied.
