Factory Rebootin my Comp

So I was thinking about doing this do to the lack of space and the point of that I want to keep my files well I had an idea that if I `make a Backup disc and factory reboot my computer that if at anytime I want to my old files back I just put the disc in and would my old files show up?

yep, it could work that way...but you'll need a pretty big external drive or a ton of DeeVeeDee's (depending on how many archives you have right now) but I'll give you an advice...back up your files in an external drive (or DVD), factory reset, copy your core (the old and the ones you need to have always) files and use the recovery manager (I'm assuming you are using Win7) to make an image of the clean OS with the core files, save the recovery image in a booteable DVD or HDD and you're good to go, you'll have an image of a clean win7 install with the required files


If I'm not clear (or too vague) lemme know and I'll make a more precise guide..I'm currently at work so I needed to type this fast

Here's what I'd suggest, by a 32 gb flash drive,http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820326019 20$ Then transfer over the files and documents you want, drivers etc etc and counter strike source maps and what not. Then do a clean install.

Stealth there are a few options here, as other have said yes you can backup files onto DVD's and throw them in when you need something. There's a few issues with that as DVD's tend to scratch and degrade over time meaning its not smart to overly use the DVD for files that are important. its good for backing up and then indexing if your into doing that but for what your saying i think it would be better of buying an external or internal drive (if you know how to install them). Externals are nice for moving files from place to place but if its just for a desktop i would buy a new internal (which should run faster than a USB external drive) and install the OS onto the new drive if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Yep, they'll hold 25GB, but you need a Bluray burner (if you have one, well you just need to buy the BD's)

Also sorry I haven't made the factory reset guide, I've been dead busy this week, and the next 3 weeks are going to be worse

yep BD stands for Bluray disc, and yes, you'll need a Blu ray writer to back up on them....I think the better option is to just buy an external drive, and back everything up there

Just get the usb stick and save yourself all of this worry. Only 10$ more and it's 32 gb's plus it doesn't scratch and can be re used..
