Hey techies of eGO:
If you were regulars in the CS:S forums, you would know that my laptop's mobo fried two months ago. So ever since then, I have been researching for a replacement and have decided against using Cyberpower and iBuypower in favor of building my own computer.
I just need someto take a look at this.
Some necessary background:
1. I have my monitor already. (1900X1200 IPS)
2. My school offers Windows 7 for free. No need for that. I also have a cheapo mouse and will get a cheapo keyboard. I'm saving money for the good headset and will wait until Christmas to get a decent mechanical keyboard.
3. My budget is around 1100-1250 USD
4. I do live by a Microcenter
5. I plan on getting a nice headset for music as well as gaming, possibly a Sennheiser. What are your recomendations?
6. This build will be used for school as well as games from CS:S and Doom to Mech Warrior Online and Arma 3.
Here is my possible build:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: ASRock Z77 Extreme4 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($134.99 @ Microcenter)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($42.99 @ NCIX US)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($99.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 670 2GB Video Card ($399.98 @ NCIX US)
Case: Antec Nine Hundred ATX Mid Tower Case ($96.39 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair 650W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($105.00 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Sony AD-7280S-0B DVD/CD Writer ($17.99 @ Amazon)
Keyboard: Logitech K100 Wired Slim Keyboard ($7.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1124.29
