Hey guys. Looking for some input as to which SSD I should get. I'm looking at a 120-128 GB, with a budget under $150 for a boot drive.

Any favorites or ones I should avoid?

I'm looking at the Vertex 4, the Agility 3, and some Crucials, but by all means, tell me what works outside of those options as well.

Avoid OCZ and sand force drives altogether when you can get the crucial m4 and the samsung 830 within your budget. Both have had deals under $100 recently. The only sand force drives worth considering are the intel ones.

If you're going with Samsung, you don't want the WW model, its got half the write speeds compared to the AM models. You can find the AM for $118 US on Amazon.

No that is not correct. The WW just doesn't include the installation "kit" which is the mounting hardware and some software which isn't required.

As for OCZ receiving rave reviews, hand picked review samples will not be an accurate representation of the end product. While the newer drives may not utilize a sand force controller, the reliability issues that have plagued many ocz products and their poor customer service is enough to recommend a more reliable alternative. Given the two drives are found at similar prices including past deals, it is a not really a choice between the top recommended ssds and ocz offerings. While OCZ may have improved (as I would hope), it is still a bigger risk that you are obviously free to take.

Then why does Samsung's website show up to 160 write for the WW, and 320 for the AM?

Am I missing something?

I would wait for a deal on either the crucial m4 or the samsung 830. If you don't need it right away, might as well save yourself $20 or $30 by waiting a little bit as they were both on sale recently. The crucial m4 was going for $80 yesterday on buy.com. Between newegg, amazon, buy.com, and tigerdirect, a deal should be back soon.
 
I'm Your Huckleberry is correct on his recommendations for staying away from OCZ and sand force drives. There have been a lot of reported issues with them. Intel SSDs are going to be a reliable and efficient choice. The shop I do a lot of work for stands behind the Intel SSDs. I don't have a specific model to recommend but maybe Huckleberry can help with that recommendation.
