Was I Hacked?

Hey everyone, I seem to be having a few issues. First off, my issues seem to have started around the time Internet Explorer was hacked (Which was very recently) I tried opening up my IE but I always get the "Internet Explorer has stopped working" pop up.

I've tried downloading other versions, but then my computer would say something like "This operating system can't run Internet Explorer" Or something simular. Then I tried useing Google Chrome, and got the same pop up message. Then tried firefox, but Norton hates firefox and didn't allow me to download it.

Then later on I realised another issue. At first this pop up would just randomly show up, and didn't do a thing. But now, this pop up does not allow me to play DoD:S and another game I'm trying to play in a picture thats below.

I've tried multiple things to attempt to fix this "Rundll32 has stopped working" pop up, but everything seems to failed. I was reading an article of a possible way to fix this problem, but it seems everything I tried was just a failure. Saying things like "You need admin permission" to do this and ect. Which I know I'm the admin on my pc because I'm the only user. Now, in the article it told me to go through the "cmd". But everything still failed. When i was reading through the cmd, it seems as if things were changed. Changed as if that I'm no longer admin of my own computer and unable to honestly change anything. I've run out of ideas, but one. And that is to bring my pc to Geek Squad (computer store) to see if they can fix the issue. If any of you could please help me out on this I would be GREATLY appreciated! May I just ask, if you could perhaps go step by step with things. I'm not a computer wizard, and not fairly good with computers.

With a registered windows account, the IE hack should be fixed now and idk how recent you think it is but all published news say that it was way back in march.

You probably accidentally DL something you thought was safe and it wasn't, i catch my self doing it but I stop myself before installing it see how somethings don't add up. If i do install something shady i usually quickly restore my PC back a week to be safe.

I'm not 100% sure you are hacked but if you are fallow what i said below It should fix it if you where hacked. It is hard to determine if you have been hacked without being in front of your PC, see what is does and anything that doesn't look right in start up.

But if you are hacked it is usually an easy fix that most people do not like to do. In you're situation i would probably reinstall windows and clean the drive that it is on. If the virus is not that bad you should be able to get away with just doing that. You will need your windows disk and such and have to follow what it tells you it is pretty simple.

The only negative side to doing this is that in fact, you will delete EVERYTHING from the drives you selected to delete then re add. If you have multiple drives that you know are clean, by that i mean you didn't instal the virus program on any other drive, you might be able to get away with saving some stuff but i recommend putting important stuff on a disk drive or a CD. Lastly by doing this you are going to take your PC out for a good day so you might wanna have other things lined up to do while you wait for it. Just make sure you know how to correctly reinstall windows before hand because once you delete the partition drive you can't use your PC again until you install windows again.

Word of advice is don't use IE, all browsers work with Norton, trust me I used opra, Firefox, and crome. The reason for switching comes with the scrips i want to run with them, but anyways Norton shouldn't be giving anything a problem if it is you can do something to allow it. Before trying to reinstall windows find out which program or site you went on that gave you a virus and stay away from that said area.

Side note: your Norton is turned off in both pictures or there is something wrong with it due to the red X you might wanna check that out fist. That and once you got a virus, you are most likely done for running a scan 40 times won't fix it because usually if you can get the hack your security won't pick it up, specially if you installed the program, it just picks up attacks, 90% of pc security comes form the user.

If it is just a windows disk you need, all you have to do is call windows and they will send you a new one you just have to have the CD key. If you need a laptop CD you will probably end up having to call the Manufacture of your laptop and they will probably send you one. I don't know if it will cost any thing, the worst case could be that you don't have your windows key either and have to buy a whole new copy of windows which is around $100.

Try throwing firefox on a jump drive and see if norton will let you put it on the computer that way. Seems like a lot of trouble to re install the OS just for a bad internet browser. Switching to firefox would be an easier fix.

See i would of told him to do the same thing, if i wasn't running firefox right now with looks like to be the same free norton from Comcast. That and the internet browser is not the only problem there, As you can see.

True, but I'm not all that worried about my internet browser as I am with the whole Rundll32 issue. I've been useing Safari as my internet browser now. So I figured out a way for me to play DoD:S, although its a pain. I have to uninstall and reinstall DoD:S every time I want to play it. As annoying as it is, atleast I'm able to play it again lol.

Edit: Never mind.....It was being some what nice to me last night....now it's back to not working at all.

You don't have to call anyone, you can make your own discs.
If you have a legitimate Windows CD key, you are entitled to make your own back-ups, as long as you don't sell them.

Torrent your relevant Windows .ISO, use your CD key, success.
