Random toolbars popping up

Does it mean I've got a virus when some sort of toolbar instals itself? It's a DVDvideosoftTV toolbar and it came out of nowhere. It's mildly frustrating, and if it's a virus I'll have to do something about it. If not I'll just continue yelling at the toolbar to go away. Since nothing else works.

Some programs try to instal a tool bar. You just gotta make sure you don't have that option checked which it is by default. If your PC starts to act funny (aka: slows down, icons start to turn into just pain lost .ink files, games crash, etc...) then you do, but toolbars you can usually uninstall. If it is for IE use a different browser.

My PC has been horribly slow lately, not only in general. It's struggling to open multiple sites and once. I used to be able to do this without any problems. But now.. It's all going down hill. My PC is coming to its end.

First off what AV do you use?

Download the following tools.

SuperAntiSpyware

Install both of these tools and update them to the latest definitions (Basically just hit update, malwarebytes should update automatically on first installation)

Once they're installed, boot into safemode

(Follow the guide here if you are unsure of how to boot into safe mode)

Once in safemode run scans with both utilities and post the logfiles in this thread.

Spybot search and destroy

it also works well for malware detection and elmination

the other thing i always would tell people is once every 6months - 1year, make backups off all your important files and reformat. Cleans up all the crap and useless files also cleans up any viruses you might have picked up.

Symantec is my current Anti-Virus program. I've already got malwarebytes so I'll run that. And for the other one, I'll download & update right away

Did you purchase symantec or was it free?

If it was free and you don't mind replacing it I would honestly recommend using MSE (Microsoft Security Essentials)

Also remember run the tools in my previous post in safemode.

Well my mother got it from the Embassy for free. She said they use it, so It should be pretty good!
