I pre-purchased BF3 Limited last year and basically quit out of disgust after about 3 weeks of playing.

I have major issues with... something about this game.
It's either the hitboxes, or, the clunky movement, or my brain can't handle the over-stimulation of action smothered in realistic scenery, or who knows. My PC specs are really low for this game so I run everything on low, in windowed mode.

Bottom line is I can't get any kills. If I see the enemy first, I might, but not if they find me as well and fire back. So, either I am doing something fundamentally wrong because this does feel very consoley to me, or I maybe just suck at it? It seems wrong that I need to ventilate someone pretty much to get a kill and they get me in 2 shots from a similar assault weapon.

So I tried to make up for this by trying to play as part of a team.
They seem to have thrown out the best feature of BF2 and 2142, which is the squad-specific communication. So is there really no way of coordinating as a team without having to deal with Teamspeak or Vent? They still haven't fixed this?

How do you guys do it?

i have some theories here:

1) could be your graphic card isn't strong enough giving you graphical lag since its not able to render the images at a faster rate

2) you're a long distance away from the server.. This usually cause high ping
even im affected by this. when i play on an american server i usually have 140 ping, while i only have 48 max on a european server...


id reccomend checking out this website.

it will tell you if your computer is good enough to run the game properly.

if it has some "negative marks" id reccomend upgrading those

Have to agree with xitreon, you may need to upgrade your comp man, trust me I know the feeling, I waited a year just to play the game so I know how you feel

This could be as xitreon said Graphical Lag. Or internet latency. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date and that your join servers in your country. our eGO servers are pretty good for testing if you live in the us.

it could also be skillwise if you play any other fps it tendes to affect your skill on bf3. after about a week of bf3, not playing once (very rare) and playing another game (moh) i play like a rank 1. dont know if this happens to the rest of you but after about a few hours im back in the battlefield style playing.

My friend has a good and a so-so machine like mine. He tried it on the so-so and said it was a whole different ball game.
The hits just aren't registering in time on enemies.

My ping is good, I don't get any noticeable lag though my FPS is as low as 15 sometimes.
So I am thinking now that I am already shot as far as the server is concerned by the time I start firing (in vain).

I forgot how much I despise the netcode on every conceivable version of BF (which I have happily paid for). Having played mostly HL engine and Source engine games, it really must be a different animal.

Battlefield 3 has client-side hit detection. If your machine is slow to the point that it is having trouble registering hits then you are at a huge disadvantage.

also make sure you have enough RAM.. if you don't have the required 6 GB the game may not run properly

I thought required was 2 GB, and recommended is 4. I have 4.
I will probably upgrade, but am not holding much hope to be honest.
