Everyone likes having friends. Being social, reaching out to others... it all feels good and results in a positive community!

However, it is good practice to trim your Steam friend's list at least twice each year.

However, where should you start? It can be confusing to try and figure out who no longer needs to be right at your fingertips.

First things first... let us utilize a handy tool called Steam Rep.

http://steamrep.com/

This tool is normally used to figure out if someone can be trusted for TF2 trades, but we are going to use it differently.

Enter your own steam profile, and scan it.

We are looking for three things.

The first is any account that is VAC banned. Since these users will never be able to use our servers, and we don't tolerate cheaters, you can safely remove them right off the bat.

The other trigger is people flagged as scammers. If there are multiple flags, it's not likely a false positive. If it's just one, research and find the details for the ban before taking action.

The third thing is how many friends they have that are scammers. One or two can be normal, but anything above that is a danger sign. Instead of deleting them, try to contact them and warn them about the situation, so they can remove the scammer from their end.

The final trick is to make your friends list show everyone, including offline people.

If you see anyone that's been offline for more then 100 days, it's probably safe to remove them.

Not true, people who are VAC banned can still possibly play on our servers.

VAC bans are engine based so if I were to get vac banned in cs 1.6 I could still play on tf2, css, dod:s servers etc just fine.

Same if I were to be VAC'd in COD I would still be able to play on css, dod, etc.

But....But....But... Ill never have Engineer in my friends list again if I purge my list

I had to this before too... when I maxed out the list haha.

I added this guy through playing MvM, but he's a scammer.
