This software is free to try with a watermark on output. It puts Fraps to shame. It's very user friendly and doesn't hog resources like Fraps. For you guys and gals that enjoy recording your game play, this is the premier software that I've found so far.
If anyone tries it out, would you mind leaving some feedback? Enjoy!:thumbup:

Thanks. I've been looking for an alternative to FRAPS. I need to start recording some of the stuff on the server for giggles.
 
Yeps, dxtory is the bomb. I like using the Lagarith Lossless codec although it requires a high HDD write speed and some time for compression afterwards.
Works like a charm when recording, too.

It's awesome! It basically lets you record without any quality loss.
Of course, the raw files are massive(!), but using VirtualDub for compression leaves you with files that are perfectly suitable for uploading to youtube or similar things.
 
Cool! I also have never used VirtualDUb. I use Handbrake and it loves whatever container I throw at it. I also use Sony Vegas Pro for all my editing needs, although I must admit I'm total novice. Know this, if I have any questions, I might just look you up. LOL.
 
Well, might say I'm a novice too, but I really took a liking to my setup.
VirtualDub does needs some love and care to get a good result though.
As for Sony Vegas, I try my best to let it leave the file as it is to avoid further compression.

But I'd be happy to answer any question you might have!
 
Always thought bout doing something like this, so maybe I can get noticed you know? Make some clips and stuffs. But how many gigs will it take idk how much I got left on my HD.
 
MSI Afterbuner Beta has a recording feature, and it is not too taxing on the machine too.
