Can't get new motherboard to boot

My issue more in depth; I know it is not the power supply, as it is fully functional with the current motherboard I am using right now. When I put the pin connectors into the board the start button lights up. When I push it it does not boot. The make of the board I am using right now is the same and this one boots when that button is pushed. On the new board is the regular 20+4 pin, an 8 pin, 6 pin, and 4 pin connector slots. My power supply has the 20+4, the 8 and the 6, but does not have a single 4. I can split the 8 into a 4 and 4, and as far as I know, I think that should work. Could be wrong and am open to correction on that. I also made sure that the cpu fan was plugged all the way in, as I was told some boards wouldn't boot unless it was in all the way. At a loss, HALP!
 
So. Its not posting? Or the motherboard isnt receiving power totally? Posting and booting are two different things. Most likely it could be incompatible ram or some other part. You could have a faulty motherboard if its not a faulty part.
 
I had this issue once when I had my case open to replace something. I accidently knocked a cable loose, and the quality PSU i have, resisted booting due to the short it could've had. If it booted, it would've shorted out the entire motherboard. Check for ANY loose connections! Or loose screws touching metal or the motherboard touching the metal chassis of the frame at all. If you dont have ALL the pins filled in the motherboard, like you said the 8 splits into 4 and 4, if you only have 4 pins in the 8 slot and 4 in the 4 slot, the 4 missing in the 8 will be your cause for it not booting. When you say it doesn't post, does it go on then suddenly just turn off a split second after? Just curious.
 
I press the power button, I hear a tick sound and the lights do a brownout. Beyond that, nothing.
 
Yeah, thats a prevent a short the PSU is doing. You have something causing it to not allow it to boot. One of the wires is most likely not connected all the way, or your PSU doesn't have enough pins for the mobo, buy an adapter for the seperate 4 pin piece to plug into your PSU, its like a buck.
 
I did buy an adapter that was 2 4 pins, both sides marked to distinguish which was which, but I still had the same issue after trying with that.
 
are ALL the connectors filled with the pins ? and NO wires are loosely connected or only half pushed in?
 
All connectors are filled with the correct amount of pins, everything looks like it is in all the way

Yo, Moridous!

That's a beast of a mobo you got there. :-)

So. In the manual for that mobo, on page 2-38, item 12 'ATX Power Connectors', of A B and C what are you plugging in from the PSU?

Also, there is a small 'Debug LED' on the mobo. Does it light up prior to attempting to power up or shortly after you press the power button? That debug table is on page 2-26.
 
Ok, A, B, and C are plugged in, there is another connector not listed that I will try not plugging in next time to see what happens

Also I will make a note to look at those debugs when i hook it up again, it's 3 am so I am not going to hook it up this moment
 
Don't plug in your ram yet, just don't plug in anything but the CPU and PSU and boot it. You should hear it beep. Then add one by one the components. Could easily bee you did not match the ram. Make sure you match the channels on the ram.
 
Ok, I finally managed to get some life. Got a debug number from the lights, 59;cpu micro-code is not found or micro-code update failed.
 
Remove all ram but one in the DRAM 1 slot, then boot. If it boots with only 1 ram in DRAM 1 slot, then your ram is faulty and you need new ram. Or, remove the battery in the mobo, and replace it with a new one, then try booting. (I'd try the ram one first)
 
The mobo i am on right now is detecting all 16gigs of ram I am using, so go straight to battery?
