Hey everyone, tonight I added a new plugin to the Jail server that adds a few new features for Dedicated Supporters. The plugin allows DS's to choose the color of their name from a list of available ones, and allows them to show a [DS] tag before their name.

If you've had time to test out the new features, I'm wondering:

Is it too distracting?

Would it work on our normal servers? (not Jail or Events)

Could there be any improvements?

We're always trying to think of ways to recognize people who donate to eGO, as it's a big part of what keeps this community going. Any feedback on this latest addition would really be appreciated.

So I tested all the colors.

Ironically, the only one I personally have an issue with is the black and slightly darker black. It's impossible to see your name unless the area you're at is lit up. A lot of our maps are dark, especially for places to rebel, which would make this color difficult to use.

Other than that, I love eGO blue and pink!

Makes it difficult to know at a glance of chat what team a person is on, but I love sporting the crimson.

I find it somewhat distracting (some of the colours at least) for example I think it was a white/light grey that made me keep thinking people were in spec, but I think its a fun idea.

While I did find it distracting at first, I think this is only because it was new and unexpected when I connected the other day.

That being said, I'm loving the colors - adds some flavor to chat! It's a great idea, so thanks for the update Spray!

Personally, I like it for the most part. I don't really see why it wouldn't work on all of the servers, except maybe limit some of the colors with it. This is also a cool way to advertise our Dedicated Supporter program.

I like the overall Idea, but as some people have said, it is slightly distracting and makes it hard for players in-game to know what team you are on, maybe limiting colours to a team (If possible) could help. For example all the light colours = ct while all the dark colours = t.

You could tab if you really wanted to know what team they are on. I like most of the colors, except, maybe the really dark black. Like Ric said it can be difficult to see at times. I think it would work great on the normal servers because the concentration of DS members is much lower than that of jail, so it shouldn't be too distracting.

I agree with NMsniper. Recognizing people is important, of course, but I think on maps like Office, Italy and Dust2 that get a lot chat traffic it could be quite distracting with that many colors. As he said, differentiating teams in chat would become difficult and it could possibly set some difficulties for admining too. On Jail it's really not a problem but on servers like those on which many people take care of their score and rank it could be a problem for the popularity of them too.

I think a slightly lighter/darker blue for the CTs and pink/orange for the Ts would work a lot better.

An option to not view colored names would work very well. But then that'd bite away at the "Recognizing the Dedicated supporters" part as most people would probably use that option.

Maybe the option could only be available on actual servers (not jail or event) Or the option could be only for dedicated supporters? That may seem like you would be trying to to coerce people into buying DS or something. I don't know man, just tossing out ideas.

You may have already seen my thoughts about this but I wouldn't like this feature on normal servers as I use the blue and red names to differentiate between teams during gameplay, that being said I don't mind it on the jail server

Like on the !awards (sailor moon skins) list maybe all Dedicated Supporters can choose from a secret list of skins that you guys could add. Only if you add a penguin one especially for me
