Need help with my Laptop HP dv7

I have a HP Pavilion DV7 laptop and it has the odd problem of shutting down when it wants too. I check everywhere online and found out its a big problem with this current generation where that the graphic card just overworks it self and overheats.

So I got my computer clean thoroughly, and I actually watch them took it apart and clean it. Thinking that the problem was solved, but it wasn't my laptop still shuts off on its own.

Is there a way for me to get it to stop shutting of on me.
1. Away to lower the amount of power going to the graphics card
2. Get a new fan (since I just got this one clean)
3. A new laptop?

Odd things that doesn't make sense.
1. It will shut off after 2 minuets when after being of for several hours.
2. I can run TF2 and feel cook a egg on my laptop without it shutting off but I can not run CS:S our these two games (Poker Night or Skullgirls), they say these games too graphically stressful fro my computer.
 
Have you considered getting a laptop cooler pad? I've heard that those help, but haven't officially seen it in action. Sorry to hear bout your laptop wanting to have kittens like this.

Cooler Pad? Well I have a cooling fan for my laptop. Does that help?
 
It is an external cooling fan, but my laptop has an odd battery. The battery comes with a hump so it is naturally elevated.
 
Yea I just did some research on the laptop. It says that it runs on integrated graphics, so thats a good possible reason why its making a fuss.

Now heres my question. If you use it for anything other than gaming, does it burn up like crazy?

Do you have a desktop that you can play games on by chance?

All laptop graphic chips are integrated into the motherboard and possibly the CPU. There is no such thing as a graphics card for a laptop where you can pop it into an imaginary PCI.E port, sadly.

I saw your thread in the counter strike forums and decided I would take a crack at helping. Can you give me the average temps inside your home and the temps your computer idles at and where its under full stress to the point of it shutting down.

If the fan did not work after you already replaced it - Do not waste time and get back to the shop and tell them you want it fixed. If they did not fix it right the first time and gave you a faulty fan, You should either get your money back or tell them you want a new fan installed, free of charge. Most companies give you a 30 day warranty at the very least.

I would also like to point out that Intel HD graphics on a laptop is by far the worst you can have. Your laptop is a casual work/play machine. Not a gaming product thats meant to handle CS:S and TF2. When they say its meant for play they completely mean low end to very old games and possibly some flash games off of facebook and other things.

If you have the money - Sell your current laptop and buying an ASUS, MSI, Sager, OR even an alienware if you like flashy stuff. Sager will be by far your best bang for your buck. Their laptops are by far some of the nicest looking and best gaming rigs around for portability terms.
