nvidia recent driver update

Hello.

So I'm having a slight issue. I've had this video card forever, it's by Nvidia. It's a wonderful card for its price. Recently, nvidia rolled out an updated driver, which I installed, everything was fine...UNTIL...

*BUM BUM BUM*

I restarted my PC, and I had like, green vertical lines going everywhere at the Windows 7 bootup screen. OK, that's pretty weird. I launch into windows and everything is enormous and lacking color, like when you put a video card in and don't install the drivers.

That's pretty weird too, so I went ahead and reinstalled the old driver, everything seemed to work, except it happened again.

So I took my video card out, completely disassembled my PC, dusted off everything and put it back together, installing the newest video card driver.

Everything is working fine now, except when I highlight anything, it doesn't show the see-thru highlight, it's like a really bright blue.

It's not that big of an issue, but it does bother me. Does anyone have any clue as to why it's doing this? Help much appreciated.

It's amazing how new drivers are always worse than the old ones. I don't know anything about how to fix this but just sayin, I hate new crap.

It's a risk/issue that you take, albeit usually a small one. The problem is that there are so many different combinations of drivers, files, etc., that are downloaded, installed, and running on a single PC that a GPU driver may end up behaving erratically due to a certain combination of settings.

The obvious fix is to actually downgrade your drivers back to the previous version that worked for you and report the bug to nVidia for further review and fixing by them. To do so, you would essentially do the same process as installing an updated driver.

1) Make sure that all your important files and settings are saved or backed up.
2) Download the previous driver that last worked correctly for you; put it on your desktop for easy access.
3) Uninstall your current GPU driver. Reboot PC.
4) Install the legacy drivers. Reboot PC.
5) Your computer SHOULD be back to normal.

Now, if it doesn't work out that way, you will need to do a full, clean installation of reformatting the hard drive, and reinstalling BOTH your OS and graphic drivers.

it appears that Windows has downgraded the color scheme... though, it should have prompted you to accept or deny the change.

the green lines at the startup proves there is an issue with the newest driver install.

perform an uninstall on the gpu driver, dl/install/ and run Ccleaner - www.piriform.com ... your issue may be connected to an old reg entry.. ccleaner cleans both the reg aswell as all unneeded old data from sources such as IE, chrome, etc. I use ccleaner daily, and have been using the program for close to 6 years now.
