Hey everyone, I recently built a custom PC, everything works great however I realized I have misplaced my I/O shield. :facewall::facewall::facewall: The manual that came with my motherboard says the shield protects the board from static electricity, my question is how true is that? Do I actually need my I/O shield, and should I pay $13 for a new one?

Thank you all in advance for your help.

Yes, and you can actually request a replacement from the case or motherboard manufacturer for free, if you're lucky.

Thanks guys, I ordered one from eBay, it should be arriving soon, I've kept the PC off and unplugged ever since I posted this thread.
