Hi, in order for me to get a Steam ID, will I have to uninstall my BC2 and re install through Steam? I have a disc. I'm currently through EA (Orgin) Thanks P.S I really enjoy playing on your server.

Hey, bomb! Good to see you on the forums!

Check your forum Private Messages. I sent you something.

Welcome hbomb dawg! I was gaming with you earlier today. Feel free to introduce yourself to all eGO members while in game.

Skagnatti! Send it to me too!

Give this little informative Steam ID section we have a once over. We usually use it for new members that play Source games.

Going here
is another method to try and find the ID. You can find the URL for your profile by going to your main Steam profile page and simply copy / pasting the URL above your profile name.

Thanks Skags,

But this is the thing. I've got a Steam account that my son uses for his Star Wars games (and opening it, I realise I bought the Half-Life series 2 years ago and never played it) but I don't run BF2 through it. I can set up a shortcut in the library, but that's not the same thing, right?

I can set up a steam account just for me, but I'm not sure what the utility of it would be as far as BF2 since they don't talk. Do they? Or is MAUL something that EGO uses outside of any one game somehow?

Sorry to be so dense...lol.

And Welcome HBomb Dawg!

You're the one's got me to asking, and I never even said hello. :]

I don't have BC2 from Steam but have a Steam account.

How I found my Steam ID:
In editing my Steam profile I've figured out that the url for my "Custom Profile" is what the Steam ID Finder is looking for. It looks incomplete with an open space

http://steamcommunity.com/id/ /edit

I figured maybe I'm supposed to fill in that blank[?] so I did and put that number into the Find my Steam ID box and it gave me a Steam ID! That number was put in the Maul box for Steam ID and my data was successfully updated.

I hope this helps someone!

if your steam and your bfbc2 names are name don't worry and join but if there not use your bfbc2 name and change your steam name any is fine

No, making a hame shortcut to a non-Steam game is not the same as having it on Steam right away, it is just a shortcut.

At the moment MAUL is an admin tool used just by source games, that is CS, TF2, and DoD. Other than that it doesn't affect any other games, so unless you plan to play any of the above you don't need to worry about getting MAUL verified. In other words if you just play Bad Company 2 then there is no need for you to set up your MAUL.

Hbomb dawg set me straight so I've got my id now....

Since I don't own any of the source games though, how do I find/join a server to verify it?

You can download TF 2 or DOD:S and play that ok one of our servers for about 15 min.

Then you should be verified.
