1 year after the SAO incident, Kirito is approached by Seijiro Kikuoka from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Department “VR Division” with a rather peculiar request.

That was an investigation on the “Death Gun” incident that occurred in the gun and steel filled VRMMO called Gun Gale Online (GGO). “Players who are shot by a mysterious avatar with a jet black gun lose their lives even in the real world…” Failing to turn down Kikuoka’s bizarre request, Kirito logs in to GGO even though he is not completely convinced that the virtual world could physically affect the real world.

Kirito wanders in an unfamiliar world in order to gain any clues about the “Death Gun.” Then, a female sniper named Sinon who owns a gigantic “Hecate II” rifle extends Kirito a helping hand. With Sinon’s help, Kirito decides to enter the “Bullet of Bullets,” a large tournament to choose the most powerful gunner within the realm of GGO, in hopes to become the target of the “Death Gun” and make direct contact with the mysterious avatar.

Season 2, Episode 1 of Sword Art Online is now available on Crunchyroll.com for premium members. Next week, it should be available for free/non-members. Anyone else seen it yet? I think more of the action will take place in episode 2; this is a setup episode for what happens in the season.

Tell the truth, It's really session 4, Why there calling it season 2 i don't know.
 
Between Season 1 and Season 2, there was a "filler" movie that recapped the events of season 1 and what the characters have been doing in the year between the two seasons. Even get to see them fight a dungeon as a full on party involving most of the characters you met in season 1 (Kirito, Asuna, Yui, Klein, Agil, Silica, Lisbeth, and Leafa)

Actually, in relation to anime, a season is made of 2 cours. A cour is 12/13 episodes. So SAO has had 1 season, Shakugan no Shana has had 3 seasons, Natsuiro Kiseki has been only 1 cour, but to keep things simple it is referred to as a season. Minami-ke has 4 cours, but due to extended periods of time between each cour, they are referred to as seasons. Shaman king, with 52 episodes, is considered a double season show.

Anyway, I don't like crunchyroll because I like my subs to be in English. I'd rather wait for FFF to get their release out lol. Only decent grouping subbing the show anyway :/

CR is bad. Use Vivid-Watashi subs for this show if you want to read proper English.

Yeah generally official TL's of series are mediocre, lol. TL's should know the material they work on, not just the words... lol.

It also helps if they know the context of the lines they translate. For example in Naruto when the Third Hokage dies, there is a scene about him dragging orochimaru to hell with him. The funeral scene after has a line, roughly translated, "The heavens are now crying". If you think about context, "Even the heavens weep". Just by understanding the show itself, you can avoid a line like "The sky is crying too."

The Third Hokage, a great man, one who would have gone to heaven, sacrificed his life to save his village but used a forbidden technique which caused him to go to hell. It are small things like that in which CR is really inferior to so many groups like Vivid, UTW, underwater, ect.

Even with another currently airing show Nozaki they don't properly translate one of the characters lines which results in a joke that follows the dialogue exchange being completely thrown out the window.

I understand what you mean now, that the translation could be better and that Vivid is superior to CR in that. The irony is you just did your own impersonation of CR's improper translation by not properly translating what you meant. :P
 
I dont like the new SAO :( theres a lack of Asuna and Kirito story line

I honestly have a theory that they might not be together in this season ;O... Notice at how the end of the last episode they're sitting in Alfheim and he says that there's "Something I need to tell you" to Asuna. What if he decides to take a break with Asuna because he doesn't want to put her in harms way within GGO like how it was in SAO. I will be heartbroken. Asuna is bae.
 
I'm glad I read the light novel. Although I'm waiting for the last couple chapters in the final volume to be translated. Underworld arc FTW. Anyways..


GGO was an alright arc. I hope the anime adaptation doesn't leave anything too major out of the original material. It's mostly about Kirito though in this arc. I'm wondering if they will do a split single season like they did with SAO I. They did Aincrad and ALO. Will they do GGO the first half of this season and Mother's Rosario in the next half so it's a Kirito first half, Asuna second half deal? GGO did have a lot of material though. It spanned 2 volumes.
 
GGO should be its own series imo, I havent read the manga so have no clue where they are taking this. I Would like to see more of Kirito's and Asuna story from the first season grow.
 
I've watched the current released episodes, it's interesting but not much has caught my attention. But I will keep on watching.
