Ok, so here's the gist of it....

You jump, but usually there's a rocket under your feet. Little known to scientists due to problems with human testing, the bottom of your foot actually has tiny sensors that can tell if an explosive reaction is happening under your feet. When these sensors are activated, your foot's skin hardens to the density of a thin layer of depleted uranium, relative to the force of the explosion.
