Counter-Strike: Source We Need a Rotation Server!

There's a huge surge of players moving over to GO. Though Source is still played by many, lots of people are testing the waters of GO and moving over to it, or so from what I've seen.

And MG, though it's fun, it's hard to maintain both Jail and MG, keep them filled, and produce results

I've been doing that the past week actually. I've been playing GO more than css and it's gotten addictive lol. I'm looking forward to the mini-games server. I just wish people would actually play on the eGO rotation server in GO, whenever I try it's always empty.

I play on there a lot when it is empty, i like warming up against the bots. sometimes ppl start joining cuz they see someone in it, sometimes its just me for a couple maps. If u want ppl to join ask someone on teamspeak to join ya!

"Downies" Lol real mature. Grow up.

If a server is not being filled why waste resources. eGO doesn't make millions of dollars a month, and like any other business, you don't waste money. Why keep a server up if no one plays on it, honestly. If you wanted to keep the highschool server up, you should've filled it yourself.

I thought about deleting this since its really a pointless post, but instead I'll leave it be and correct you on such matters to which you clearly know little about.

1) Highschool:

Highschool has been empty/dead for the greater part of a year BEFORE we even thought about taking it down. If you're still delusional that leaving it up will bring back the likes of TripleREC, dino, pris, Ashley, MGR, Zimmy, etc, you are sorely mistaken. As a division, with some exceptional members, have tried to revive highschool with no success. On some nights, they actually did succeed and the server had at least 20 people playing on it, only to drop to 0 in an hour or when the "popular" people left the server.

Why did we close the server? Because it was unused. We do not possess an unlimited amount of resources. I'm not sure where you get your information from.

2) Minigames:

Minigames was not closed or taken down. With some research BEFORE you speak or post, you would have learned that Minigames was moved over to CS:GO.

Why?

Well, seeing that CS:GO has the largest playerbase around these days, we believe that it has the greatest chance for success there. Counter-Strike: Source currently has less players playing it than CS 1.6. With Minigames struggling on Source, why not give it a shot on GO, especially when so many people asked for it?

The argument that CS:GO is ONLY for MatchMaking is null and void. The top 3 servers for CS:GO are actually surf servers. I believe it was our members that stated an absolute truth; that if you're not MatchMaking in CS:GO, you'd rather just have fun. It seems that most CS:GO players feel the same way.

This annoys me. You of so little maturity and so little respect. First and foremost, runnings servers are hard work. I'm sure you can attest to that seeing that the Illegal server is 100% of the time empty sitting at 0/24 players.

Secondly, we do NOT rent servers for our source based games. We have server boxes. Do some research and figure out how much those costs and upkeep costs for them.

Thirdly, we have some of the most popular Battlefield servers around. Do you know what it takes to run a Battlefield server? Or I should say, how much? Do your research.

Thanks.

Words of wisdom.

I truly cannot believe this is still up and being discussed lol. Rotations never work and never have worked. History is doomed to repeat itself again. Frankly, I think all of you who say that you will fill the server and want it so badly are full of crap.

You may "fill it" for the first week or so, then you will lose interest and go do other things. Where will that leave the server? Sitting at 0/24 just like it always is.

Also, the talk of when regular pubs start coming in. Do you truly know how long it takes to get a regular pub player base into a server? Clearly that is a no because getting a large enough player base into the server takes quite a lot of time and effort to do so, which is clearly something we lack nowadays.

If you want to try it again, be my guest. Maybe you all who are talking the big talk should start walking the big walk by filling up our already empty servers. Then MAYBE you will get what you asked for...

Oh and Titanium, grow up please. You and I both know that what you are spewing is pure garbage and just spiteful child rage.

That is all.

agree with C-Whit and Mayhem Death and the others and as i tried to explain it to you Titanium
but you wouldn't listen i hope this is now resolved

can someone please close this tread ???

No. This thread has valid discussion in it. There's no reason to prohibit individuals from talking at this time.

The servers that do have rotational, from my own experience, are quite popular. And like flamelauncher said, it would be a nice little change for eGO and see how the reaction is from the community and pubbers.

In my opinion rotation servers are great but most rotation servers I see are gun games, death runs and surf. It would be great to see a rotation server dont get me wrong but as stated before most servers are just empty at my time of day.

I really think it would be great if we could at least Test A Rotational server out to see how well it does. It just has to be done right with about 6 classic maps... dust Italy inferno peranisi nuke etc. When you start having map votes and 20 diff maps that no one likes that's when it will never have people on it.

We had a competitive rotation server on CS:GO. It did not go very well.

guy's i hate to say i think the rotation server is a dead horse i.e will probably never happen or at least not unless some serious people put in some serious time and commitment to get it up and populated especially considering that jail is all but dead and trying to be revived

from what i've been told at least every time in past they tried there wasn't enough support from community as a whole to keep it

I was actually thinking about this thread the other night when I was in the jail server. At first, I thought a rotational server would be cool and fun because you could use some maps that people maybe haven't played on in a long time. Then, I started thinking that, if there was a rotation server, we all know there would be people that would get on for their favorite map and then jump off right after it's over. I do agree with dude that we could maybe test it for a certain time period, but I just don't see a rotation server working out.

I may rustle a few feathers here but I feel that the only reason jail hasn't been been removed or changed to something else is simply due to a bias from leadership to keep it. Any server with this amount of players would have been ditched long ago, much like our beloved jail server; but then again, you can't turn everyone into aliens and master chief's on a rotation server, so unfortunately any change is unlikely. On another note I think that leadership completely misunderstood the csgo environment by having a server what so ever; not only has minigames failed on csgo but it failed on css too. People rarely play on designated servers except for bhopping, climb and dedicated deathmatch servers so unless the csgo server is one of the aforementioned "styles" it will remain as dead as jail.

What?

I'm pretty sure leadership doesn't remove servers if they don't do well after a few months. Look at office, it was almost as bad as jail and we brought it back to what it is now. From my understanding, leadership gives a server time to recover before just strait up removing it. You got to remember, Jail used to be the heart of the division, no point in immediately removing it just because its been doing bad.
