A rather big update
Happy weekend, people. I have a few things to update you all on, so here goes. This will be a long post, so you should probably sit down before starting to read.
1) Draft date and time
The draft date and time for BOTH leagues has been scheduled for Sun Aug 31 12:00pm PDT. Please be sure to mark your calendars. Hopefully most of you can participate real-time (we will also be assembling in TS during the draft), but even if you are unable to, you can always pre-rank your draft choices within Yahoo.
2) Dice rolls
Kiwi is the only one yet to register his team, but he's always late to the party so that's okay. Otherwise, let's start rolling the dice to randomly determine our draft positions and division placements. Note that I have also emailed the following dice roll instructions to each of the 24 teams.
We'll use this site for our dice rolls -- http://www.cyrnus.com/cgi-bin/rollem.cgi
When you have the page up you need to change/input some parameters:
I have attached a screenshot on how everything should look before you click on 'rollem'.
IMPORTANT notes about your dice rolls:
- The SUM of the 3 numbers will be used to decide draft positions. The highest number will get 1st pick and so on...
- The first of the three numbers will also be used as a tie breaker (higher wins), if necessary.
- The 2nd number will decide what division (there are 3 each in Alpha and Bravo) you are in for 2014. The highest number will be placed in the first division in its respective league (Duality or C-WHiT), the next highest in the second division (ron paul or Blue Stealth), the third highest in the third division (Spray or Lungbuster), the fourth highest back in the first division, and so on and so forth.
-The 3rd number will be used as a tie breaker for divisional placement. Again, higher numbers will trump lower numbers.ers.
- Dice rolls that do not have the correct parameters will be considered invalid, and you will have to re-roll.
- If I don't receive your dice roll results email directly from the dice roll site, you will have to re-roll. Absolutely no ifs/buts, copy+pastes or forwarded emails will not be accepted.
- I will update my original post with dice rolls as I begin receiving them.
- I will be emailing my own roll results to Dangle (for verification/validation purposes).
- I trust we all have the integrity not to submit a false roll for another team.
Hope that wasn't too confusing and good luck with your rolls!
3) Determining the overall 2014 champion
Since there will be an Alpha league champion as well as a Bravo league champion, the overall 2014 champion will be determined by whichever one of them scores the most points throughout the playoffs (i.e. weeks 14-16).
Tie-breakers:
-If by some stroke of luck they are tied, then the first tie-breaker will be overall W-L record.
-If they are still tied at that point, the next tie-breaker will be their division W-L record.
-And I seriously doubt it will happen but if we are still tied, then we will work "on count back", comparing their W-Ls starting from the last regular season game and going backwards. I.e. if team A winning in week 15 would trump team B losing in week 15.
4) Prizes
For the first time in our 5-year history, we will have tangible prizes at stake, rather than the typical sig bet. I will be donating a couple of prizes (possibly a game and Steam/Amazon gift card), and Meg has also kindly agreed to contribute another game from DoD's prize vault, so we should have at least 3 prizes.
The exact details of the prizes will be announced closer to the start of the season, but if we have 3 prizes they will likely go to:
1) Overall champ
2) Runner-up
3) Highest regular season points (one team cannot win 2 prizes)
That said don't get too happy as the prizes will be modest -- I do have bills to pay and Skippy eats as much as a full-grown man, after all. Just thought it would be a good idea to inject a little more excitement (not that it's ever lacking, of course) into our annual competition.

Can I re-roll too?
Hey last year I went all the way in one of my leagues picking 12 out of 12. Of course I ended up with a horrible team after the draft, barely squeezed into the playoffs, and needed a dollop of luck during championship week. But anything is possible!

It's true. Last year, I had Peyton Manning and LeSean McCoy in my family league. You'd think I was a lock for the win. I lost in the conference championship because by the end of the season, that's all I had.
Then again, I did win the regular season.
PS - I rolled a 133, and rerolled for a 157. Alpha league

Last call for any outstanding dice rolls (check my OP). The deadline for dice rolls is Sun Aug 17 11:59pm PDT. If I haven't received yours by then I'll go ahead and roll for you (copying Dangle's email for verification purposes), so we can finalize our draft positions and division assignments.
