I am trying to figure out when the recommended time to buy should be. I know right now DDR4 is just coming out and Windows 9 is rumored to be out in a year or so with DX12. The issue is if i wait that long my current hardware going to hold out with newer games. It is fairly old but currently can still handle most games at 1080 p resolutions and good fps.
--- UPGRADING Options are as follows in case anyone thinks this route is better to hold off longer.---
Processor is a 920 and the only options are LGA 1366 slots which are fairly expensive for not to big of a gain plus the 920 is still a fairly high end processor despite its age so i am ruling out this option.
Memory i can go from 6 gig to 24 if i chose to but bus being ddr3 800.
Videocard- I have a pci express 2.0 board currently with a 6870 radeon.
HD is a ssd/hd hybrid 7200 rpm on the normal hd side.
