Server Server Ranks

Halloween. We have a lot of vanilla servers, and everyone is trying to get the halloween achievements at the moment.

Hopefully with our map changes, we will be able to reverse the effect.

All servers but Valve official servers and any community server with a strong group of regulars.

Valve servers are excluded from the rankings though, right? I'm curious to know what other clans are doing to keep those groups of regulars. eGO has a super rad community and server list, so I'm surprised to see the rankings fall so far.

They are not excluded. TF2 Rank List
Any server that starts with "Valve" is a Valve official server. Last I checked in June (I am looking at an old Google doc I wrote up), out of the top 500 or so, 252 were Valve servers. And back then, only 7 were Valve servers were in the top 50. I see 22 Valve servers in the top 50 now, so the number of Valve servers in the top 500 is likely much greater.

As for those communities with high ranked server. I think they tend to have less servers and a more uniform community supporting the servers. If you look at eGO, even just the TF2 division, we have a wide variety of players who support different maps. Which isn't a bad thing, but it doesn't help when it comes to the numbers.

But this is just my two cents.

actually i looked up the only 2 community's in the list kazoo posted that had 5 servers listed in top 25 and both are foreign for one and both have 50 servers or more in there arsenal just for TF2 alone and support multiple games like counter strike 1.6, counter strike source, counter strike global offensive, half life 2 death match, dota 2 and more
and both have a pretty large membership base

just giving info i found

I don't count Skial and other corporate communities in my previous post. Some of those have underhanded ways of populating their servers, like bots with fake avatars and pings.

I was talking more about SourceOp.com as an example. While it has 8 servers, their active server is the top 2fort server. The other servers are down in ranks and usually empty.

I assume you're talking about European server hosts? I don't think we can really compare ourselves to them as things appear quite different over there.

If you look at some Euro server lists, by country, you'll notice that there isn't really a contest over who the top server host is. For example, Saigns dominates in the UK.

That's a good point for the European server groups. I had no idea, but that makes perfect sense. And no, my comment about the underhanded is mostly reserved for Skial. I thought there was another server chain who does something similar, but I may just be remembering things wrong.

I wouldn't be surprised, but I only play on eGO servers, so I wouldn't know. I was looking at the list of players in one of the Saign servers, and nothing jumped out at me. There was a handful of idling players, but that's not a bad thing, nor were they trying to hide it. They all seem to use a common AFK tag.

Hahahahahahahaha, oh saigns. The literal worst servers in the game. They offer donation benefits whcih allow engies to build ridiculous amounts of sentry guns, unlimited metal, etc. They also have many other donator perks that are similar and just as bad.

Note: it seems not all their servers are this bad anymore https://www.saigns.de/premium/ still bad though

I remember the times when 2FORT Foundry and Dbowl were in the top 200...
