So I've been watching Doomsday Preppers on Netflix and it's got me thinking more and more about putting a bit of effort into preparation for different catastrophic events that could happen and what would I do to be prepared. My preparations are pretty tiny as I'm moving pretty soon but I'm wondering what y'all are thinking of doing or prepping for. Please only supporters... if this is not your thing then don't post -_-

Looking at purchasing a gas mask (It's up in the air currently)

Hundreds of rounds. Go bag with the necessities. I figure that if I can't bring with me is of no use to me.

Prepping isn't just having the materials necessary, it is also if you, yourself, is ready. Sure having all the food, water guns and rounds you have will keep you alive, but if you need to run, or get dirty with any other survivor, then what?

Just a little thought from a younger 'prepper'?

If they come in tanks we're boned. In regards to Genesis, I'm able to practice my ruger 22 long rifle and my pistols quite often, my larger caliber weapons are another story though... I only got a chance to fire them once. Something I plan to do more once I move. I have minor pvp combat experience which while it won't save me, at least I'll get the other guy too , I need to work on a go bag I think. What else y'all got.

I feel like everyone focuses on the weapons aspect when, if something catastrophic WERE to happen, you'd need things like shelter, food, pure water etc WAY more than you'd need your 5,000 guns.

Chocolate, As others on these forums who have mil service know... it's not the end of the world without internet... it's just damn boring.

Monday, I'm working on some of that stuff you were talking about. I'm actually acquiring some gas mask pretty soon, looking at some surplus M40's. I'm also getting used to the idea of buying 50-80 cans of food at once, so I can create a bit of food cellar. Even if the world never comes to an end, snow storms/hurricanes and other types of storms come all the time... so I'll be prepared food wise. When I move to my next house (in a few months) I plan on attacking the water issue with having about 10-15 gallons on hand at all times. Not much but it's a start.

Seriously though (although toilet paper would be nice... not necessary, but nice...) in addition to what y'all have been talking about, don't forget a supply of your medicines and a good first aid kit - especially if you or a loved one is diabetic or takes something prescription on a regular basis. I think this one tends to get overlooked, but it's pretty important.

Work on a couple of foxholes and tunnel system, canned goods, buying a couple acres of land for all of this, work on a quiet source of energy to keep light underground,maybe a trucking container for a underground bunker or something.

While I am not actively doing anything at the moment (nothing huge anyway, it's all mental) it is something I've been considering for awhile.

Yeah, I am a doofus who does worry about a zombie like attack although it would more likely be a disease in general killing people off rather than actual zombies...

So, when we build our home in a couple years I already have plans for secret places, fully enforced basement stocked up etc. >.>

And yes, I'll have an underground water filtering system because no way can I see myself filtering my pee unless I get totally desperate.

- Now to hope my home would still be a possibility assuming something were to happen otherwise once I hit the road my survival skills drop drastically.

You should think about getting a civi or military Israeli gas mask. They're cheap, use NATO filters, and they're Israeli so you know they're battle ready. The only downside I can think of is that the filter is in the center so it makes it harder to use weapon sights.

Why do all the hard work now when you and your good friends Smith and Wesson can "acquire" said necessities when the poop hits the fan later? (Yeti sold me on this idea a while back)
