This is an alert to anyone running Panda antivirus.

Just a heads up to anyone that may run Panda antivirus -

Do NOT restart your computers.

Panda had an update that generated a number of false positives, quarantining many good programs, including portions of Panda itself.

Updates
1:35PM CST - Panda is currently working on a recovery tool to remove affected files from quarantine. (Which will allow Panda to run again. -minus the bad update-)

4:14PM CST - If you have been affected and are lucky enough to have Panda still running, an update has been sent out to unquarantine the files. If Panda is NOT working, they're still working on supplying a tool to fix that.

Yeah, I've seen some pretty bad screw-ups from various AV companies, but never one where they managed to add their own software to their virus definitions.

Do these AV companies, like, ever bother to test an engine or definitions update on...even a couple virtualized lab machines to see if they're *maybe* gunna brick your shiny new rig? Or, like maybe cripple an entire company's computers while the sysadmin frantically rolls back updates network-wide, or just ends up re-imaging units? ROFL
