+1

I agree. I have an ASUS Republic of Gamers laptop and I am able to play all the games that are in my steam list plus a few others game not on steam. I have had no problems with the laptop.

Is your heart really set on getting a "gaming" laptop? Your best bet would be to build yourself a very nice rig with $1500, you could get a PC that would be amazing at that price. But if you like the portability of the laptop (use it for class etc) then why not just buy both? You could get a great gaming PC for (900) and a decent laptop for classes. Sorry - I just like/prefer gaming desktops!

But Lenovo is an amazing brand, the list erol posted and recommended are pretty spot on and what I would recommend.

I spent about 1100 on a very nice HP laptop and I love it. They offer nice customization. Sure, it is a bit pricey, but I love the look, feel and performance. Check out the HP Envy 15 or 17.

Quick Specs: Core i7 4500u, Nvidia 740m, 8gb ram, 14" HD Touchscreen. I really wanted something ultra-portable, long battery (seven or eight hours when on web or basic tasks, 3/4 heavy gaming).

I can play WoW, battlefield, Skyrim on med/high settings.

Their touch screens are properly good - they give a great feel for Windows 8.

You really need to know what you are going to do with it. Are you using it for school as well? Will you be transporting it often? Where will you be using it? I knew I would be traveling a decent amount and doing office work in various place, so a powerful, small machine was the best for me.

I am super glad I found this thread. I too am in the same boat of NEEDING to upgrade the laptop. I play source alot and about up to here with only getting 20-30 fps even with reset rates and all the in game graphics turned all the way down. I was thinking along the lines of an asus. For the price they pack a heck performance goodies in, and it seems 95 percent of the customers are very happy.

I just want to be able to finally play CS:GO :(

To the OP, I just got a much needed upgrade by the ways of an ASUS ROG 551. It has the 860, and is leeps and bounds about my old rig. Its an amazing machine with alot of performance packed in. I now have zero problems running any steam games. and going from 10-30 fps to 299 is completely life changing lol. Best of luck in your search
