So I'm currently looking to upgrade my rig for under $1000. A buddy of mine put together a list on PCPartpicker, what do you guys think? Also, I know there's only 1 SSD listed, I will be using my 1TB HDD I have in my rig now along with the new 250G SSD. I will also be using my current CPU and Mobo, they are listed in the build below.

oh wow this is actually a pretty good build, the prices are low on most the things there
 
That right there is a solid build. I would say nothing needs to be changed but maybe consider buying an aftermarket CPU cooler. i7's can overheat just like any other powerful processor with heavy and extended gaming periods and or other programs such as video editing etc. Consistent and open airflow in the case (tower) itself is just as important. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is around 30 dollars, has great reviews and works WONDERS at keeping the temps level. Let's not forget you would be helping our sponsor as well.:)

I doubt that gonna happen, stock cooler sufficient so long as you don't overclock your CPU. So long as you don't live environment that has high ambient temps you should be good.


@ Digital
If you are not going to using any processor heavy applications such as video editing software. I would drop the i7 and i5, and get closed loop water block for the CPU with left over cash.

I bought the i7 when it came out, I have an aftermarket cooler on it actually haha. The CPU and mobo are the being recycled from my current rig. My CPU runs around 60 degrees Celsius under pretty heavy load which isn't hot at all for that chipset.

What graphics card are you currently running? Does sound matter to you (aka are your fans loud and they piss you off)? lol

edit: noticed your bumping up psu. Any reason why? Also, make sure new PSU you are buying has the correct amount of cables you need for your hardware.

Currently have an R9 270x 4GB that I'm waiting to get back from MSI, I recently RMA'd it due to artifacting. Also I'm sure that Windforce card isn't the quietest but I'm not really concerned with sound. I bumped up the psu only for future upgrades, I rather have it and not need it.

I currently have a CPU cooler on it now and it's not even close to temps where I should start to worry lol.
