Teamspeak Slows Down other Applications

On a new laptop, and am encountering an issue that I haven't been able to find an answer for. This happens when I'm playing music or videos on Windows Media Player, but when I have TS on, the video/music slows to a crawl, and from what I can tell, TS is acting as the primary program, even though I want it to just run in the background in conjunction with others.

Any ideas of what settings I need to adjust?

Under Settings -> Options -> Application, I got only the following checked:
-Reconnect servers when system resumes a standby
-Use middle mouse button shorcuts in tree
-Warn when talking while microphone is muted

I also changed the application to run in administrator mode, but this hasn't fixed the issue at all. I am on WINDOWS 10.

It sounds like some type of codec issue that is hammering the processor. Have you searched your motherboard (if on board) or sound card (if expansion) manufacturer for updated drivers for Windows 10? You also have the ability to set the number of processors to handle the application, so that way, TS will not bother the other applications.

Give up on Windows Media Player and try a more decent media player, such as VideoLAN. You can play with the output settings to see if that helps. Even if it doesn't, it will be worth the upgrade given how customizable it is. It may not be as pretty as Windows Media Player, but you should really be more concerned about how light it is and its functionality.
 
It does sound like an audio codec conflict issue. Try another media application and see where it goes from there. As others suggested, check your audio drivers. Where are you outputting from as well?
 
Using the laptop. I'll try updating the audio on this new laptop. Had it for under a month now.

Just want to make sure I understand your situation. Is your pc lagging and slowing down? or Is your audio dropping to lower volume when you use team speak?

Only problem I have noticed when switching to windows 10 was my LAN driver would disable itself on random start ups. Other than that, its been an excellent and smooth transition from windows 7. I still have 3 spare copies of windows 7 home premium I purchased before they stopped selling them at the local frys. Its been a good OS from what I can tell and I like the layout. No real difference between windows 7 for me. Then again, I dont get too in depth on its features.

It's the oddest thing that only happens with Windows Media Player (at the moment). I play a video on it, but when I jump into TS, WMP slows down to a crawl. When I'm playing games, teamspeak comes through fine, audio for the games come through fine.


Not sure what I've done now, but it looks like the videos are coming through fine now. I was having some other issues with the laptop (the touchpad wouldn't disable itself when I had a mouse connected). Spent about 2-3 hours working on the laptop, downloading new drivers, running updates, and in one case, doing a system restore. It looks like it's working now...

And going to Windows 7 isn't an option since I don't have a Win7 disc available.

Right. There's a reason for a free operating system. Windows used to have a "hidden" backdoor if you will, with Windows 10, it is no longer hidden. All "upgrades" are forcibly and immediately imposed. Windows 10 ships with default settings that show no regard for the privacy of its users, giving Microsoft the ?right? to snoop on the users' files, text input, voice input, location info, contacts, calendar records and web browsing history, as well as automatically connecting the machines to open hotspots and showing targeted ads. Microsoft uses Windows 10's ?privacy policy? to overtly impose a ?right? to look at users' files at any time. Windows 10 full disk encryption gives Microsoft a key.

I had the worst transition into Windows 10 and immediately removed it within 2 hours after installing it. None of my drivers nor software worked and I immediately went back to dual booting Linux and Windows 7 solely for games.
 
Sorry for hijacking your thread. You can get a Windows 7 iso from Microsoft themselves if you have a legit Windows 7 key.

I have four machines with Windows 10. I have never experienced anything beyond slight annoyances on any of them (which would happen on any OS). Despite the constant crowing of a few, MS does not steal your data and spy on you. They do not care about what you look at. I never see any ads. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience, but faulting W10 for any slight issue is probably overreacting.
 
Snipeye, could you post a screenshot of your detailed view of the task manager when the issue is occurring, so we could see CPU/Memory load?

Sure can Mister. But at the moment it's running fine, next time it fouls up, though, I will get it.
