IMO They should be unbanned or at least have a ban that isn't permanent or they can repay by doing something for the community. These guys have spent enough time banned to know what they did was wrong and I highly doubt they'll ever do it again. If you guys ever watch their streams you'd know how serious they take this game and they should be allowed to compete again. Pretty much everything I learn from CSGO comes from watching DaZeD/steel stream or steels videos.

If this happened at a semi-pro level, a scene not as many people follow, would everyone still be fighting to give them a second chance? I feel like this is only a big deal because of the level of competition.

I personally think the ban should stay. These players where "Icons" to some people and gave CS:GO its name. They decided to throw away their fans and lose on purpose in order to get some extra cash.

I think the ban is reasonable from that point of view.

Epsilon threw and received the same punishment. People wanted them unbanned.

You could use that argument with real sports, if a minor team and a NHL team both got caught matchfixing. Obviously the NHL will receive more attention, but both should be treated fairly. This argument is irrelevant in my opinion. The point is the punishment doesn't fit the crime regardless of who did it.

They spent multiple hours a day competing and getting better as a team without being paid salary... The team was dieing and they wanted some money after losing in groups at another major. Let me remind you that they ONLY got paid in tournament winnings and some what in sponsorship/endorsement deals. Still made very little unless they did well at majors, in which they didn't.

I completely understand the fact that they needed money, but risking your reputation for some cash to keep playing seems weird.
I think there had to be other options, such as getting donations (Unless under contract they cant, I dont know this far down the rabbit hole)

The thing is, they knew it was wrong, but they didn't know HOW wrong and the real risk of doing so. There were no rules set and no regulations of 3rd party sites such as CSGOlounge.

That is the thing, they didn't know the risk here because valve never made clear what ws the punishment or if there was any punishment for match-fixing, had they known it was going to be a permanent ban for it they wouldn't have done it.

Imagine the case in which what we know as laws were starting to appear, you steal to feed yourself or your family, you get caught and get your hands cut off or thrown into a pit to die mainly because it was never told or specified that stealing is a punishable act. you knew inside it was wrong but didn't think it was going to be that bad because you needed that, in this case the money.
