So close, and yet so far...

Yes that is my truck, and yes that's my driveway. Some might have noticed I said my truck's battery had to get jumped earlier in the shoutbox, but I made it to Enumclaw to help my grandmother anyway for a short period before (after getting jumped again) making 3 of 4 wheels back in the driveway as the power steering cut out (I now sympathize with those who drive/drove cars without PS) and the engine died.

I dont know if I ever shared this but.. I had an old Acura Integra like from the 90s. The transmission was going and one day i decided that id go buy a car. As im driving up hill....the car stalls and no matter what i did the car woild not accelarate, i wanted to cry.
I somehow figured if i lower a gear and this is an automatic btw... Maybe it will go up... And It did!..i heard something kinda come off tho as i went down hill. Luckly there was a dealearship up ahead. I put my best poker face and with no choice ended up buying my new car on the spot. After i did most of the paperwork, the guy asked so..how are you taking that old car back home? I told them i cant.. They offered me $500 for it lmao.

Never again... If i drive ever again im buying from a dealership and making sure i read the carfax. That old one was bought in the back of some burger king lot by my mom. Ive even had the PS go off and that wheel is hard to steer...

If your battery has died and you lack power steering, you may actually have lost the belt that turns the alternator (generator for electricity) and that belt also drives the power steering pump. Your truck may not be as dead as you think! Old GM trucks never die either. You'll get it going again soon!

In great condition too, wish rust wasn't such an issue where I live

Nope, it was battery-related. The entire trip back the battery's charge was fading something fierce (it was just barely in the lower red when I hit downtown), and every time I started accelerating from a stop there was a very noticeable thud where the engine struggled. Put a new battery in it last night and it worked without a problem in the slightest, today too. Only other major problems I've had with it thus far (it's a '97 Silverado) are a short in the compressor a number of years back that killed the battery and (hysterically) the compressor now not turning on at all when I try to turn the AC on.

Gets a little... well, "uncomfortable" when the heat up here rises above 90.
