My Plans for a New Build

Hello everyone,

Here are the parts I'm planning on getting with a new build (hopefully). I'm trying to stay as cheap as possible while staying as "safe" as possible. If you know of any other parts that may be better and cheaper then the listed parts, feel free to reply! Note: I'm trying to stick with Newegg and Amazon. Feel free to suggest ideas for the things that aren't priorities but they won't be considered until later in the future. (Limit of a total of $300, add $20 to your total for a static wrist band, thermal paste, and a Molex power splitter adapter)

Motherboard:

GPU:
I currently have (unfortunately) a GT 740 2GB edition. Getting a new GPU is not a priority for me at the moment. I plan on upgrading to a GTX 750TI in the future. (Not going over 200 dollars for a GPU :P)

RAM:
I currently have 1 stick of 8 GB DDR3-1600 RAM. This is also something that is not a priority for me at the moment.

Hard Drive:
I currently have a 2TB 7200 RPM Hard Drive. Not a priority to upgrade or get a SSD at the moment.
 
Yes, a GTX 960 is the best card you can get at $200. I'm really loving mine.
 
If you get a GTX 960 please go with the 4gb version not the 2gb.

Why?

That CPU is really going to struggle. I would at least bump that up to a 6300 for only 12 dollars more on Amazon.

I would also change out that PSU. I would not use that thing in anything really. This is about the same price (with a mail in rebate) and better/more stable.

If you are hard set on budget I would just forgo the CPU cooler for the time being and save up and picker a better one down the line. You should be able to get an ok clock but nothing too great with that board. With the limited budget for everything you need this is about the best you can get tho.

I will probably get that processor instead. Thanks :) I forgot that the threads on the one I was looking at was pretty bad and that is a pretty important thing.

I wasn't too sure about that PSU so thanks for sending that, I'll probably end up sticking with that as well.

Any other opinions about these?

I'll edit the post later about the CPU cooler.

Will not having a CPU cooler cause any problems with the CPU? Or should I use the heatsink and fan included with the CPU? I don't plan on overclocking if that helps.
 
With the the motherboard you picked you could not really get any kind of meaningful overclock on it anyhow.. The stock CPU cooler will be fine but a bit on the loud side, not jet engine but noticeable (depending on case/flow) if stress testing or any kind of heavy CPU loads.

Also you need some type of CPU cooler on all CPU's :P
 
Alright, with the suggestions so far here is what I have got:

Power Supply

and for the CPU cooler, I'll be using the one that comes with the CPU unless I can convince for some more money ;)


Feedback for this set up is appreciated so I don't make any mistakes :D
