Spawn Camping on Turbine. Should it be allowed.
http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=2859519
Personally I think it should be. I've seen quite a few people complaining about this topic. I don't believe spawn camping is against eGO rules, yet many are against it.

Personally I believe it creates a challenge for the team being camped to fight and overcome. It can also make you play as a class maybe they wouldn't otherwise do so you can defeat the campers. It also promotes teamwork and strategic planning and can really bring the team together so they can take out the campers . I can understand also some people's point of view on how "It can takes the fun out of the game".

I realize at this time I am only a =(e)= and don't have a say in this, but I want to know what everyone else thinks. -Soup

Spawn camping: Yes or No

Spawn camping is not that large of an issue in my opinion; I see it as part of the game.

You do have a say in this, and your opinion matters just as much as anyone else's.

At the moment, spawn camping is allowed because the division agreed on it a long time ago, and it could change with popular opinion. That being said, I think the idea of spawn camping is part of the game, and it is something that the scramble team plugin should fix within a few rounds.

And I believe it will always be allowed, due to the fact that we allow any play styles on our server as long as it isn't griefing etc. It'd also be unrealistically difficult to admin (how much would someone have to spawn camp to warrant a warn? and it would end up being subjective) I love to spawn camp (I'm sorry), but I honestly don't care that much if my team is. It's not hard to go medic and pop and uber.

I don't think it's really an issue on Turbine. There are two ways to get out, and the only continued camping comes from overly stacked teams. Steelbilly and I will often hit the spawns pretty hard, but even we both get knocked out after a while (mostly Steel ;) ).

I also agree with Gerbil that the definition of spawn camping is too ambiguous to make rules on. We have enough rules as it is.

Yeah i think it's a fun challenge when you are being spawn camped and you try to get out. Oh and i also love to terrorize my enemies right in their spawn :3 cya in game!

It's not an issue on Turbine. You haven't felt real spawncamping until you've been spawnlocked on Harvest, Dustbowl, or 2Fort.

As for spawncamping itself, no. It will always be no. The FCTF will not die.

Was gonna say we used to have FCTF! There was FCCF or something as well,

I don't see it as an issue on turbine. Even if you are camped, with spawn being right there it is usually quite easy to mount a quick defense and it doesn't last long. I see it as mostly being a part of the game really, for most maps. Usually there is a way out too if you team up well.

Agreed! ;)

I personally would never spawn camp because there's almost no skill/challenge involved in standing in front of a door and spamming the hell out of it any time someone tries to step out. However, in servers it never really gets to be a huge issue as a simple uber/push/etc. can usually clear it out.

From an admin standpoint, the only time spawn camping would warrant admin intervention would be if it was causing multiple people to leave the server, as it can then be classified under griefing. However, autobalance would probably take effect and help even the teams out a bit.

Start the fire and bring out the smores, we're going camping! Like everyone else said, I really don't mind spawn camping. Sure it gets annoying at that moment, but people can get through. Besides, its kind of funny to see how salty some people get... xD

Fast Camp Task Force is back in for force and I didn't get my steam notification! What is this!!

Here's why spawn camping will almost never be a problem.

1. People are going to find ways to get out of it.

2. If it's not a lot of people, not that many people care. In fact, it's easier to get out of.

3. If there's more people, someone's going to cap eventually. It's inevitable.

4. If no one caps, then it's likely everyone knows what's going on and people are yelling at eachother at teamspeak, while still having a good time.

It's similar to walking through a choke point. If you don't watch for a trap, and there is one, you die. If you walk through the choke of badlands or process without looking for a trap on the higher part of the wall, your med drops. If you walk through shutter on process last, you're probably going to die if the demo's up. There's nothing wrong with spawncamping. The term was only coined because people aren't aware of the fact that the area near spawn is still an area where they can still die.

This is a concept that should never be questioned. And I honestly hope that eGO doesn't put up a rule against it ever.
