Ok, I have been around a while, and never really asked as I can't really make the Realism days, but what is "Realism"?? Is it similar to a comp game in CS where shall we say its taken a little more serious, and more strategical play? Just curious.

Short answer: Somewhat the same, with a few other additions/differences.

Long answer:

In realism you basically play like you would on a actual battlefield -

Both teams switch off attacking/defending for a 'best of 5 rounds' - If both are tied 2-2, then the final round will be both teams attacking with rifleman class.

You play in a realistic position (not floating above the ground, prone on stairs, etc), have a CO/Team-leader that designates who gets what specialty class (Assault/Support, MG/Sniper, Rocket) & may call for a strategy during the round, can't throw nades off the skybox (invis-wall in the sky), and can't pick up enemy Sniper, MG or Rocket

Also, when killed, you're moved to spectate until the next round starts, so can't/don't give away enemy positions

And everyone starts off with 80 health, so the M1 becomes a 1 shot kill, in most cases. Sometimes you may get shot in the arm and drop your weapon, or in the leg and your movement speed is slowed. In either case, you will start to bleed out, so call Medic as soon as you can before you die. Other than that, Fire hit most of the points.

Teams are picked schoolyard style, with each CO taking turns until the last man or woman has been chosen.

Death messages are turned off normally, so you may shoot someone dead, or get lucky with a nade, and you wont know unless you look at the scoreboard or console. No kill feed is kind of fun.

The defenders cannot go past the mid point on the map, usually determined by whoever is hosting before the match starts. The defense wins by either running out the clock or killing all the attackers. The offense wins by killing everyone within the time limit, I believe its 8 minutes.

It is quite a bit more strategic. Since you get only one life, most tend to be a tad more cautious in their positions and style of play. Some may say that they dont like sitting around waiting, but I dont mind that so much. Me and all others that are dead can talk and joke about what we are still seeing, as the people that are alive cannot hear us, and usually the next round starts pretty quick.

Generally, we do 2 different maps, and sometimes if there are enough people to stick around through both, we may do a 3rd map.
