Bad Company 2 So I like to play Battlefield BC2...

Tikkun Olam

I don't really want to raise a stink, but I have to bring it up. I'm gonna babble on a bit first.

I've been playing for years but I'm still not really good, especially when compared to some of the real experts that have a high k/d, and ribbons galore. But when I play, I play hard with an eye on supporting the team. At this stage of the game statistics are practically irrelevant, so I'm not really concerned with my k/d. I'm in the top 100, for example, simply by virtue of attrition, not because I'm better than the 1000's of mostly inactive players below me.

When I play BF, I change personas often in each game...assault, recon, and engi mostly, with the rare appearance as a medic. I play each character a little differently, but always with the object of taking flags, not with winning the game, per se. Camping tanks can take a lot tickets to win the game, but no flags, sorta thing.

I always spot. Period.

If I play assault, I spawn on my squadmates and drop ammo. If it's a good engi or recon, I'll stick around to supply them. I spot other players to see if they need ammo, and drop ammo boxes in strategic place and announce it. I spot the enemy, and I go for the flag as hard as I can. I die a lot...but I do my part. My good score and crappy k/d vs anyone above me tells that tale.

I usually go engi when I'm gunning or flying support in the hind/bh. Same goes...I spawn on guys that need repair, jump out and repair when needed, spot friendly vehicles if they might need repair, spot the enemy, *try* to hit helos with AT4s, and go for the flag.

And finally, when I'm recon I play a couple of different ways, but it's almost always about spotting. Sometimes I'll go recon when nobody else is spotting - which drives me nuts - and I'll find a good place to scope out the enemy. Sometimes I'll go recon when I'm in a squad with a good assault (and ideally, a good medic) who will keep me supplied with motion bombs...which I then toss constantly when a flag is up for grabs or when we're defending VADS cliff, say. And sometimes I'll position myself in view of the vads, or any flag in general, where I'm relatively safe and can spot, take shots, or drop mortars on the enemy.

Okay, all that to say that sometimes I'm extremely aggressive, sometimes I "camp", but I always play, and I always support my teammates in any way I can.

So today I finally took exception to the eGO admin getting on my case for how I'm playing. There is no need for insult..ever. There is no need for strong (but on the "permitted list, for sure) language or constantly insulting your own team in general chat. Frankly, it's certainly poor form and takes away from the enjoyment of the game...for me, anyway. I don't see how so much anger can be translated to enjoyment.

I have actually been kicked by this admin for not being aggressive enough, all the while I'm in his squad, spawning on him, and running to the flag. The rage was palpable, but misplaced in the extreme. I only complained in chat, but I don't want that to happen again. It was confusing more than insulting...because I thought you guys knew me...but it was still insulting.

People play different ways. Some camp. Some are super-duper, all-in, this-game-is-the-most-crucial-thing-in-my-life-at-this-exact-moment fighters. Most are somewhere in between, just wanting to play and have a good time.

Unless I'm actually breaking rules or disturbing gameplay somehow, I ask that you lay off...because I guarantee you I'm playing, just maybe not the way you want me to. And that should be just fine.

BF Leadership will look into this matter. As long as you observe server rules, you can play your game however you like, no Admin has the right to tell you how to play you character.

Yes, jtipton is correct. If playing by the rules of our servers, you are allowed to play however you want.
Is it aggravating to be on a team with a bunch of flower pickers (players who would rather check out the scenery than play the game)? Yes, but admin do not have the authority to kick players for picking the flowers. We have other tools at our disposal to help move the game into a better direction. And none involve ruining a players game experience.

Anyways...From my experience, you do not pick the flowers. You move forward and die like a good soldier does. That is all that is expected of you from Uncle Sam...or Mother Russia (OK, Mother Russia expects it more).
I have been on your team many times and have had absolutely no problems with your play. You play like most good players, you run through the different classes given what is happening in game, you charge the flags, you kill pretty good, you create and move into space when needed to cover areas, and I have seen you try very high variant maneuvers. High variant is a term to describe "rolling the dice", a move where your odds of success are very low, but if it works, the payoff is Yuge! I do this a lot, and I die a lot. But when things work out, that other guy is not happy.
I like being in your squad.
When you are on my team, I have witnessed many times where I die above Vads, so during re-spawn I call out, "Above Vads", and once I get back up there, you have cleared the problem up there. Or gotten it to a point where I or others can finish it off.

Another thing I like, your on the forum! So this weekend, my high ping says, "I won't kill you as much".
Play on Adventurer, your quest awaits!

oh, by the way, I liked reading your post.
Rare that someone talks so much about BFBC2 and in game stuff.

Tikkun Olam,

When were you kicked (What Day) and by who. If you dont want to post it here please pm it to jtipton or myself so we can look into why you were kicked.

I don't recall...it was over a month ago and the chat doesn't go that far back. I'll drop you a quick pm.

Oh, I sure hope it wasn't me.

I prod during a game (to campers) but I've never kicked for it. How you play is how you play, and you're welcome to play that way. But Conquest is, well, Conquest, and I try to dare the campers to move up.

See you on the battlefield!

Papa

Tikkun, In game I'm hearing bits of chatter about this from different admin's. I think we're a bit concerned that this has happened and no one knows who did this. We all know you and it's so hard to believe it happened.

I hope you have tried to reach out to the person involved, to straighten this out? I notice that you have at least been back on the battlefield since this happened. Hoping to ride with you again soon!

It doesn't do much good to complain in chat. It puts the admin in a spot when you argue ingame so I try to avoid it, and it's not something I usually find myself needing to do, anyway. I'm more of the "woot" comment guy.

I've discussed the details with your leadership already. The kicking thing was more weird than anything else so it was probably a one-off, but you guys can look at the chat logs yourself.

I really like the game and the people that play on your server. I've been on "the outs" here worse than this, by far, and it's still worth coming back. Lol!

I agree with Slick, as admin we are concerned about the issue you have brought up.
Along with Slick, I also recommend reaching out to the admin you are referring to.

Hey guys!

We're all good! Seriously!

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the concern and positive comments, either. That was pretty great.

It never got nasty, nobody freaked out...we're all one big happy family unit (that can continue to knife, dodge, and kill each other to our hearts desires). :]

See you out there...
