Halo Wars is now on Steam!

Halo Wars has recently been released on Steam and the Halo hype is returning at the hopes of all current games porting across to PC. After purchasing Halo Wars last night for Steam, and now owning it on Xbox 360, xbox one and now PC, i'm looking to see how many peeps here also have the game on Steam and/or are looking into getting it.

Unfamiliar with Halo Wars?

With bad-ass graphics, remastered from the original 2009 release, co-op campaign, 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 online battles across various game modes and a tonne of maps! Halo Wars is definitely a game for someone who is a fan of RTS.

Unfortunately matchmaking has not been ported and implemented into the remastered version but you can still invite friends to private custom matches or search online for a game pre-made by someone else. Ranks are still available in the multiplayer element of the game but you will need to play and win A LOT to reach General.

I would love to be able to host a small EdgeGamers tournament in Halo Wars and, if all goes well, expand on that to eGO vs. other communities, but one step at a time!

If you do have Halo Wars, or are now planning on getting it, please drop your Steam name below so I can add you all and see if we can get a room in TeamSpeak that we can meet up in and talk about it. To be able to get 6 of us together to do some 3v3 skirmish games would be awesome!

I loved halo when they first come out with the multi player aspect. If this is anything like the original halo I may look into it.

I just looked this up on Steam. And from what I am seeing it is a game similar to Starcraft? Will look into it more but that is what I am seeing. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, it is a strategy game. Not an fps. It was fairly fun though when it was released initially.

It is currently $19.99 on Steam and you get ALL the DLC with it. Including: Maps, Gamemodes and the wraith and warthog skins. And yes, typical RTS with rock/paper/scissors elements in Halo style. The game looks gorgeous, the sounds are incredible. They even added in little things like extra troop dialogues, enahnced weapon sounds, even a little screen shake on huge explosions. The game is a bit of a learning curve in terms of using a key/mouse because you have to remember, this game was originally on the xbox 360 and it mastered the controls on a controller, even for an RTS. Even now, i use a controller instead of a key/mouse because of how simplistic and clean it is.

I would love it if i could set up a 1v1 bracket tournament in eGO as an experiment to see if people would enjoy it! A 1v1 tournament could be done in a single day.

Example: 8 players = 7 games = 1 winner. Each 1v1 game can last 20 minutes. Screenshot of end game for proof of winner. 20 minute break between games. Next bracket plays, etc. 1v1 tournament done in a matter of hours

Then, if successful, onto a 2v2 and 3v3 tournament. Can have our own little eGO Halo Wars Teams. The possibilities are exciting!

There are more active players in the original 2009 release than the 2017 Halo Wars 2 release due to the HUGE changes that were introduced to the sequel. Kind of says a lot for a game that's coming up to its 10 year mark.

I am not a huge fan or RTS games, especially in this case. I just want a FPS Halo game, even if the original Halo, to be on PC.

Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 are both available on PC. I could easily have a thousand hours between the two haha.

I easily have 1000 hours in Halo 3 alone xD plus the extra 400-500 per other halo

Did you not know this? They are on MAC and PC. Halo: Online is also a thing.. but only in Russia. There is also Halo 5: Forge on Windows Store for PC and also allow minimal matchmaking...
