AFK Management

I prefer that Admins have control over AFK management. Sometimes I need to step away for a couple of minutes (usually when my kids are starting house fires) and will let the Admin know. The Admins have been gracious as I put out these multiple fires, refill my Ice Tea, do my hair, stretch, and return to game play.

Also the Admins have been really good recently with managing a variety of server-rules violations. I know this is a tough role and the pay doesn't match the responsibility but you are all appreciated.

I had a craving for some Argentine the other night and tried one of the other servers. The players are so vile and those admins encourage negative behavior. Although I usually play with extremely low or sometimes no volume it is not fun to play in that type of a circus.

Alicia, yeah, depending on which server you go to, you can be treated with some
pretty vile behavior. A couple of the top servers are like ours, and they don't let it
proceed "too" far. Even on some of the other servers, that I'm not a moderator on,
if I find the conversation goes overboard, I might say something. You don't have to
be an admin to guide/drive a conversation, or to suggest a little decency.

Worst that can happen is, they might just not listen to you, make fun of you, give
you the boot, and probably won't be inviting you over to any parties anytime soon.
Its been my experience though, you are not often punished for having integrity.

again... worst case scenario, they might end up discussing YOU, and 9/10 its probably
a whole lot better than what they were discussing previously. lol

If you want a conversation to change without being obtrusive, often times, you just
have to suggest a new interesting topic for them to consider.

Some people are like that, if you don't drive the topic for them.... they'll drive it into some pretty
scary places. lol why you must anticipate the scary conversations, and make course corrections to
conversations more desirable.

Do you have the evidence to say change kills the game? Your negative attitude on change does not help.

I didn't think we had an afk issue tbh.

Admins don't seem to notice the afks until a player mentions it. Almost every time i've been on, I have to call out afks for admins.


And a case today,
London and Baal were on Avalanche with an afk sniper for 26 mins(screenshots and time-stamped) and perhaps more because I timed it from joining server. I think an afk plugin could have done the job much more efficiently.

In the game of 4D Thread Chess this is known as a bait comment. Likely to produce an impugning response from me. Followed by a churlish response by you. At which point there is forum chaos. This will cause a Forum Moderator to intervene as a symbol of order or possibly even close the thread.

To avoid that nonsense (SlowPoke???)...I will admit we are on the same side....we both want AFK management. It affected me last night too. Okay, back to my own safe threads. Nobody saw me here. :blush:

I dont know who you are, I have searched my files and cant find you, I have searched Gameme and cant find you. I do believe I know who you are and if you are that person grow a pair and front up. The person I believe you are continually abuses the other players and I have told you about it, also you have taken to abusing me, and at one stage I had to tell you I was the admin not you.
You continually lie about the other players telling admins they have been afk for long time when in fact most wasn't afk at all. I do not hold a grudge and I will not hold a grudge against you but you was on a final warning and you are still on a final warning so please tread carefully next time you are on. Our pub players are entitled to be treated with respect just as our members are treated with respect. This will stay with me but if any admin asks me I will tell him who you are. I have built a reputation on being fair and honest and I will not lose that rep to any one.

If I need to start taking screenshots for every afk with timestamps, I will do so. I'm not a liar.
When I spot afks, I have timed them for 5 mins at least.

I strongly feel you are against truly helpful change to the server. Either you are naive or too stubborn. (you failed to present any actual arguments against an automated system, moreover skirting around the subject) I think that statement is actually true. I am being very honest when I say that. That is no insult, just objective thoughts. I really do wish you could see my perspective and understand.

Also Alicia that was not a bait comment. That was pointing out your off-topic discussion. (warrenheil is also going offtopic with those images...) This is a thread to actually discuss installing an AFK plugin. I wanted the thread to be serious. But its apparently a bad idea. Currently been on the server for an hour, no admins on to remove the afks. I am just so confounded why this isn't an obvious solution. I will get on teamspeak to talk with some people who can implement a plugin.

Please keep the discussion civil. Thanks. I really want the server to stand the tests of time and make current players happier about the afk situation.

You continue to break ego rules when you are in-game but as I have stated I am fair and give all player a fair chance , you have lied about players being afk and also how long they have been afk on the odd occasion you have been right.
I am surprised leadership has allowed you to continue posting as you have not used your in-game name. I always telling players to enter our webpage and make suggestion or complain but I feel you have gone to far. You are laying down the law and you should be more respectful toward all admins and players.
I am sorry to all members and players reading this But I will not sit idle when a players starts to rubbish our admins and players.

I would say, the one disadvantage is due to non-support by Valve, any changes to the game by valve (like to CSS or TF2) usually breaks mods in DoDS, in general.
