I am all for trying new games, adding support within EGO to try and grow EGO with in that game. It seems that all of the games we support with the exception of Overwatch (not on Steam) and Battlefield (origin only) are on steam.

With the games we support on Steam, everyone of them is in the top 15 in popularity on Steam, with the exception of DoDS and now Squad.

Peak player numbers show that DoDS is on life support with a 30 day peak of 1098 concurrent players (Mar 18th) with about 2-5% of those players being our DoDS division) and now Squad, which is in I.C.U with a 30 day peak of 3766 concurrent players (Mar 18th)

I am not trying to be negative here but being realistic, Unturned has 3X the playerbase, we know that Unturned died off with in EGO. I am trying to find out what are the plans with this game and the growth withing EGO,

What is going to convince me and other members in EGO to shell out $40 for a game with such a low player base?

How is Squad going to help with the growth of EGO?

3766 Players is not a low playerbase. Even 1.5k isn't that low, especially for a more niche game like Squad. I don't know why people nowadays feel like anything less than 10k+ peak players = dead game. Squad is a game that thrives on community interaction and involvement. People love seeing and playing with a regular squad leader that they know. Squad is the perfect kind of game to foster the kind of community we want in eGO. Most people that play are respectful and polite. They take the game seriously and enjoy making friends and seeing the same names day in and day out. Growth will be fairly easy once we start getting a dedicated player base. Most people that play squad, and similar games, find a server they like with people they like and stick with it, joining their community if the server has one.

Also a niche game like this usually means there are a lot less servers to compete with as well. I know squad can do well as a division as long as we get the support for it.

Question is, why not? The point of hosting a server is advertisement. Rob can attest, every single time we get into a server every single person says HEY ITS EGO! When did you start playing Squad!

Stats are stats, they don't always mean everything for a server.

As far as convincing members to play, thats on the player. Twitch, YouTube, members of EGO currently playing the game will convince people to play.

No offense, but your post is a little strong. And for the DoD:S numbers - Our Ava server is constantly full which means players are hitting our MOTD and we are getting ad rev from it.

MC, Rust, Ark, GTA, Squad, Unturned, do not generate ad rev UNLESS people are playing in the server and recruiting members.

As it stands now, currently a lot of our game servers are hurting but - a lot of people are playing those games.. TF2 for instance - still has thousands of people playing the game yet our servers sit empty at times. The point I am trying to make is that stats of people playing said game don't really show anything. Start small, then grow. We can grow with the game.

If it doesn't work out, it doesn't work out and we move on to the next thing.

+1 to both replies above. 100% agree.

I can also attest to this as well. I had one guy ask about EGO and the guys playing. We told him most of us were from GTA and he was like "when did ya'll start supporting that game?" Turns out, he used to be a regular player in insurgency back in the day here.

I also have to agree, since we have ventured into squad even prior to the community hosting a server players have seen the tag in our names and have had nothing but questions about the community which in turn means that we’ve peaked someone’s interest and they may join, they may speak to their friends and they may join who knows. we won’t know these things unless we take a leap and see where the uncharted waters lead us. The community takes a risk every single time that we try a new game out and that’s he only way to make forward progress.

I was just looking into what the reasons were. No offense given or taken. And yes it was strong, for that i apologize. It's because i care about what EGO does to grow even bigger than we are or have been in past, I wouldn't be here if didn't care. Don't take my post the wrong way. I want us to grow and support as many games as possible to continue growing EGO. I don't think it is a bad thing to go with a game that isn't isn't trending. Supporting a popular game can't always lead to positive things either.

I have been contemplating on buying squad. The game looks awesome. It reminds me of America's Army but on a larger scale (but you can respawn in this one)

No offense taken, just how you presented it might of been better for a pm to leadership.

EGO has been around for 10 years, we've strived on trying new things and they have either failed or succeeded.

This is no different. We appreciate your concern, but we are doing what EGO does best.

Btw, Go Ducks Go ;)

PS: Squad is a great game btw.

Just to talk about DoD for a second: despite the low player numbers the average has not radically dropped in a while. We still maintain our #1 server and it?s almost always full, even in the late night and morning hours. There is a low population but they are definitely using our server to its fullest. I?d love to type a lot and haven?t read all the responses here, but, if we are able to have a server and it has the interest of the community I don?t see it as a major issue. Not that I?m going to buy the game but, doesn?t hurt. We have a few servers that have been turned off so trying a few things out isn?t costing too much on resources I figure.

Just my two cents.
