On the jailbreak servers, there is a game on some maps called death-crate. In my opinion deathcrate should not be considered a skill-based game. I think that deathcrate is a luck based game, like roulette and primary secondary melee. The point of the deathcrate is to dodge the crate, but how are you supposed to do that if the crate spins randomly at you not giving you enough time to dodge it. Often times, the crate just spins randomly and kills multiple people in one go. So now could someone please tell me how is that a skill based game?

It?s skill based. You use WASD to move around to dodge the crate. That?s a skill.

Your not able to do it dodge it when it literly goes onto you soo fast

You have a full circle you can traverse in. You have a square coming to you. There is always a safe space you can be.

Meh, it's skill based enough to not create a problem

I don't think so since the crate literly launches it self into me soo fast and its not just me lmao.

It's not luck based, luck based is defined as:

A luck-based game is any game that do not require any skill and instead requires 100% luck

There's still a small amount of skill in dodging the crate, therefore it's skill based.

You dodged it for 50 seconds. How is it not skill based if you can dodge it?

Yeah ok, I tried to get a clip where the crate just spins really fast without giving a chance to dodge it.
The thing with deathcrate, is that it doesnt have common movement, the movement is completely random making it luck based.

I will agree with Epic that you need some skill. But small ammount.

With Jailbreak any small bit of skill makes the game skill based. Deathcrate is about dodging and having great predictions of where the crate will land and learning where to stand to avoid it.

Yes but there is times where while trying to "dodge" it your not able to because its that fast, you don't have enough time to dodge it since the speed is random and its movement is random. I hate deathcrate because its not fully skill based like jumprope and other games it has a small ammount of skill.

Luck based pretty much means that the end result isn't in ur hands or control. With Deathcrate, despite it being fast, there is skill no matter how little which is movement. Even if its not a big factor its a factor after all, you're telling me a guy standing still has the same chances of survival as a guy bhopping around or avoiding the crate? No cause that person is attempting to dodge and uses skills of prediction and MOVEMENT, key word MOVEMENT.

You just contradicted yourself... "It's not fully skill based" Who cares how much or how little it's skill base is. There is skill meaning it's a skill based game.

Yes ok luck based meaning your not 100% sure of the outcome, but in my opinion the first gmae should be fully skill based not partly skill based, thats just my opinion. I won't change anything anyways so I guess we can leave it at that.

Well you shouldve just said that you think first game should be fully skill based rather than tryna change something thatll never change y'know.

Yeah but at first I thought deathcrate was 100% luck based, but than my opinion changed, and now i think its just not fully skill based.

Here's my post on this subject back in December, and a graph I just made to illustrate it. I'm sure there are some people who enjoy the bottom half of this graph, but the real fun is in the top half.

I 100% agree that both involve luck and that having high skill makes you more likely to survive at breakfloor than at death crate.

It makes sense from a rule standpoint to have to define a game as either luck or skill based, but clearly there's a range of how much skill is involved in a game:

Pure skill/memorization: Climb, Surf, Race, Maze, Longdrop/Strafejump, Dodge Course
Mostly skill: Death Run, 9 Colors, Spleef
Some skill, some luck: Volleyball, Breakfloor
Mostly luck: Death Crate, Teleport Towers
Pure luck: Roulette, Primary/Secondary/Melee

Just my opinions on where some games lie, but mostly to illustrate that it makes no sense to include death crate but not breakfloor in a list of luck based games.

Deathcrate definitely isn't fully skill based, because there will always be times within the game where the crate goes in unpredictable directions in an instant. But, I definitely do think it is pretty skill based, and like others have said a luck based game is a game that is 100% luck. Which in this case Deathcrate is not.
