I have seen this issue multiple times in the past and was wondering, what does face "Down" mean? Directly down means directly down, but I sometimes see people facing "down" at the floor above them, so I was wondering, what should people do while facing "Down"? Thanks In Advance!

what does face "Down" mean?

It means to look at the floor that is below you but you do not need to be complete 90 degrees straight down.

I sometimes see people facing "down" at the floor above them

This is them trying to "loophole" the rule, I have also seen people who look across the map but then say "oh I was looking at a floor or ramp way over there so "technically" I was looking down at the ground, freekill, reeeeee." And to them I respond with this rule from the rule book

As a T, you may look for loopholes in orders when appropriate. If you are basing your actions of these technicalities, end up being killed for them, and then begin to complain, you are in the wrong.

So you're saying we should not spam 'Swap' in chat or VOIP. Boy I'm a bit disappointed now.

Thanks A lot, this clears things up. Appreciate it!

Well it depends on what the warden says.

If they say 'look down', then its fair to say anywhere below horizontal is OK. If they say at the ground, then its really not loopholing (unless they try to do the thing where theres ground on the other side of the map) if they just look at floor that's nearby.

tbh, if I see your model not facing down and it still looks like its horizontal, then imma shoot you. So that is a loophole that I would catch you for as you believe your safe, but from a CT perspective, you're not following orders.

its been well established that if warden only says look down, anywhere below horizontal is OK. It's still a freekill even if it looks like they're not looking down.

DOWN IS ****ING DOWN. WHAT KIND OF NONSENSE????????????????

face down means facing down. HOW IS FACING THE CEILING DOWN?

thats like those guys who want to be a gi---...nevermind dude.

And if your model is looking horizontal and not down its not looking down to CTs so to them you are not following orders regardless of what you see, they do not see the same thing. So no, it would not be a freekill as the model shows to everyone else you are not following orders.

Face down means(most often with the wardens ive seen) face down and dont move.. I agree that these directions should be more specific, Ive seen prisoners report wardens for not specific directions.

I view "look down" and "look at the ground" as the same thing but just two different ways of saying it. Trying to differentiate looking down and looking at the ground is just going to cause chaos, frustration, and more work for admins. As an admin I don't want to deal with 2 people arguing because "oh hur dur I was looking 1 degree below the horizon so you freekilled reeeee, hurr, durrr" NO, STOP

If warden says "look at the ground" or "look down" just look at the floor, not that hard. (Its kinda common sense, but hey what do I know)

It's a freekill by the same logic as any freekills, even if a CT thinks you aren't following a command but you are, and kills you even though it looked like it was (say the name hovering plugin breaks, where it shows the wrong name when the CT looks at somebody), it's still a freekill.

They're different commands, with different criteria to not be rebelling. I completely understand how they can be viewed as similar, but they aren't the same.

They're not hard to differentiate, down = below horizontal, at the ground = at the floor (can be loopholed to ANY floor, but its kinda implied nearby floor)

If any AT disagrees, we can talk about it but I think its pretty simple.

No. CT has proof that they can easily say you were not following orders. Its not a 'they thought wrong' its 'your model was not shown to do what the orders issued' on their screen.

I've had people try to loophole such orders and I shot them for not following orders and told them why they were killed. Now obviously in cell block and no one was rebelling/shooting myself or other CTs, then I'd probably not care if its perfectly down as the round started and no one is a threat.

If, as an admin, you try to swap/revoke someone who killed you because you believe you were freekilled without asking the attacker why you were killed, you are not doing your job, as a player should and would honestly tell you that on their screen, your model failed to fulfill the orders.

How to further investigate their actions, you should ask other players and deal with it as such:
  • If other CTs agree with this player its obvious that you were not. If you want, keep an eye on them if you feel otherwise even with witness statements.
  • If no one else saw then I would just go with that one CTs statement. You can also keep an eye out if they repeatedly do this and no one else can confirm said players statement. Player's who are being malevolent will have a pattern of behavior and that easily incriminates them in future infractions.
  • If it was disagreed upon by others I would then believe them for now, but keep a close eye on them and see if they have a pattern of similar behavior. Player's who are being malevolent will have a pattern of behavior and that easily incriminates them in future infractions.

Their proof is faulty, and it is their responsibility that it was a freekill regardless. (see previous example about plugin bugs)

If I ever stretch commands, as an admin, I rarely ever swap. I warn about the fact that it was a freekill, why it was, and how to avoid making the same mistake.

This statement right here, is not something in my 11 years as an admin, I should ever think nor hear another admin say.

I'm not necessarily saying that they must be swapped for it, I am saying, as a matter of undebatable fact, that it is still a freekill.

Every situation is approached differently, and there are many factors that go into any decision regarding a punishment. Please don't assume things like this.

I really don't understand why its so hard for: 1. The prisoner to look down at the ground and not try to loophole the orders, and 2. For a guard to tell him to look down if he thinks he isn't, prior to shooting him. If a prisoner is "technically" following the orders, but not the way you want them to, tell them how to do it properly. There's literally no reason to shoot someone for looking 3 degrees higher than you wish them to, that's ridiculous.
