Hey all, so with the possibility that the govt might give us the payroll tax, im looking at getting myself a fully modular psu. Bare in mind that my current psu is still working, but im fairly certain that the warranty is gone. So I guess my 2 biggest questions are is there a certain brand to keep my eyes on and possibly any new technology features to look out for? I would like to be clear that im fully aware of the 80+ bronze at minimum.

I'd suggest Corsair, EVGA, and SeaSonic for the first choice. But Fractal Design and Cooler Master also have comperable units if you'd like.

1) check out Linus Tech Tips, guy has tons of experience building pcs from sketchy chineese parts to the top of the line nvidia, intel, amd.
2) check for referbs from the producers. i found an 850 watt Platium from corsair normally $250 for $189.99.
3) check resell sites for name brand un-opened parts. people will buy part by part and decide to not build a pc, got my $220 case for $100cash and a 5 mile drive.
edit: I do not remember typing #4, sorry for the swearing it was 3am and I was exhausted, and some strange typos...

Uhhh LTT has lots of experience. They're a team of tech professionals. Linus in specific definitely has experience building with Chinese parts, they have countless videos on that.
AMD does not make PSUs. Additionally an 850W silver PSU should not cost that much. Gold is a higher rating and costs less than that new.
Chinese resell sites are not the place to look for un-opened products. They'll sell you just the box for an opened product and call it new. And then ship it in 5 months. Would not recommend. EBay and Craigslist are where you would find local listings for used products. Additionally microcenter and the manufactures might have listings for used products, but most do not and resell to other third parts like amazon or newegg as "Manufacturer refurbished".
3090s just got released yesterday, the ti won't be out for most likely another year, but yeah? I guess don't buy a 3090ti when you're looking for a powersupply. Good advice

Don’t cheap out and spend the not that expensive cost of saving your headache down the road. Serious a good 650W gold rated PSU isn’t even $150 (Canadian too! We hike up prices more than America)☺.
Know what costs more than $150? Everything else that can be fried when you buy the Chinese eBay PSU.
Total side note to the Linus thing - anyone remember when he made TERRIBLE YouTube videos? He used to just read the label off the box. It was so annoying. Contents great these days.

Sorry it was 3am and I was half passed out. Corsair PSU, I don’t know what I meant when I said 3090 is a scam. And I meant like OfferUp and craigslist for deals.
Wow, so Best Buy is selling Corsair 750 w 80+ gold rated fully modular psu for $125 (which comes with free shipping). Man im totally sold on that! Thanks for all the great feedback on this. Looking forward to a much cleaner future system now. Just for a little context, Corsair's site was willing to charge $10 more for the same psu, but refurb & platinum. This 1 is brand new, so I get all 10 years vs a very reduced warranty!
