As we all know, Valve continues to screw up our servers on Counter-Strike 2 with their nonsense updates...

While things get fixed on the CS2 sides of things, it would be nice for all of our avid JB players to have somewhere to go instead of playing different JB servers on CS:S.

I think we should build a Counter-Strike: Source Jailbreak server for these times. Some people that own CS2 also own CS:S, so I do believe it would gain some traction. Not to mention CS:S has been out for years and years now, there should be enough plugins already built that we can use for the server to at least get it close to what CS2 JB is today, or at least what CS:GO JB was.

I had this thought also but tbh, as much as I would like to have one I don't think it would take off or do well.

On css we have the office server that remains empty, and also had ttt that did not do well. Not so sure that JB on css would do any better since we are already known for our cs2 jb server and already have a player base there. Sure the player base could move to css while cs2 server is down, but then what happens when everyone goes back? The server would most likely sit empty, or who knows maybe a player base would build slowly.

Not to mention, most of our cs2 members don't really play on our css servers, or css at all. I have seen quite a few on the dust 2 server in the past, but its always temporary and they don't tend to stick around. Which is fine, but what I'm saying is most people that play cs2, probably prefer cs2 and most likely don't want to play source. We have had events on css for awhile also, but not many members would turn out.

Perhaps there are some of us here who do play jb on css, that could give us some insight?

Im thinking more of an outlet for when CS2 JB is down ~

Just a simple server to boot up when it's down so people in JB will have somewhere to flock to.
I'm pretty sure people have flocked to redacted JB server on CSS when JB has gone down in the past:

Nappin Nappin Bagle Bagle Chime in?

I regularly hop into css JB when cs2 is down or empty. I also do often recognize ego members in this non-ego server on css. I think it’s a good idea but yeah it would probably sit empty most of the time unless cs2 JB is down.

My proposition is just that: Start up the CSS server while CS2 is down. Otherwise, keep it offline.

Unless of course it gains traction for CSS players, then boom we have another server.

bro why are you asking me to interact with the forums. dont you know people dont read these?

also, yes, css jb good. but ive been saying this for years...

Spoke briefly with Nappin Nappin regarding this and while it's something I'm interested in potentially doing, it is a gamble and the likelihood depends almost entirely on the technical overhead involved in creating the server.

I'll take a brief look at it in the coming week(s) to try and get an estimate for said overhead and will post an update here regarding the feasibility at that point. If it's on the simpler side (i.e. our old plugins only need updating, we can use existing plugins, there are no complications, etc.), then it may be something we look into in the midterm. However, to be honest, if it's on the complex side, then it may not realistically happen anytime soon due to the limited technical resources we have available at this point in time.

Just quickly typing this out as a logistical update -- we won't be looking into the remaining factors until an estimate for technical feasibility is established, as that's the baseline for this to happen.

Gabe was extremely interested in doing this.. let him take it on... couldn't hurt us...
