Quick Question...

I want to get this mobo:

Amway, my question is about the compatibility of the 2. I know the board is a AM2+ and so it the CPU but the motherboard only has a 4-pin CPU connector and I thought most quad-cores need an 8-pin CPU connector but yet I see many reviews on the board saying they have 9850s in them. So do all quad-cores need an 8-pin CPU connector? If you have any other info or links to give that would be helpful.

If you look at the motherboard specs, it says that it DOES support the Phenom. So don't worry.

that proc and mobo should work fine together. you'll see in the mobo specs that not only does it support am2+ (just like you said), it also lists the names of the procs that it supports, and the phenom is one of them.

I did see it supported Phenom I guess im just over-reacting a bit. I just want to make sure this new computer I want to build will be just the way I want it. I also wanted to do some overclocking on the 9850. I've heard you can really overclock this CPU with no problems and I was wondering If I could still overclock with a 4-pin? (With it being a quad-core)

That was the board I was originally going to get but after looking at the MSI one I kinda want it more for a couple reasons and the main one being that I have to have wireless and I want to have 2 video cards, but if I get big cards it would be a tight fit. Thats why im still looking at other motherboards. There is a wireless edition of that same motherboard but as of now I have an ASUS board almost just like it but its AM2 and not AM2+, anyway it has the same wireless card as the wireless edition and its USB So its a bad card, so idk.

Haha. I know that feeling. Also, dude.. if you get the ATI+AMD go get the AMD overdrive at ATI's site. (it helps A LOT with overclocking)

Well I wanted to do AMD so thats why I picked this again. But a couple days ago I found the ASUS Rampage Board which is AWESOME. so now im thinking ill get the rampage board with the Intel Q6700 Quad-Core.

But if you have the money, get a 45nm processor like the q9300/q9450. Because they stay much cooler. {i'm getting the Q9450 ^.^}

Walmart - you're going to be a lot happier with the Intel as far as performance per dollar is concerned (and this is coming from and AMD lover) Also, the 9300 should overclock extremely well. Just get yourself a decent after-market cooler and have a ball!
