What's the story behind your name?

I must say, this was a great idea of a thread. Very entertaining to read everyone's! :-) There's many times during a game when you see someone's name and you wonder where they came up with that. . .

so i was on xbl and my friend harry wasa online, and we had just started back up into halo 3 again. he had just changed his name to H4rrY x 420, so to really make him mad, while i was in lobby with him one day he saw my name change from o0b3rmcv15ow00t to H3nrY x 420 cause my names henry. and we had teh same rank and everything so he was realllllly fired up and we looked exactly alike. the name stuck but i took off the 420 in respect for the clan.
 
Well, way back when I hadn't even hit double digits age-wise, I was playing runescape. I needed a name that was evil, yet not with cliched words, like death, kill, doom, slayer, stuff like that. Thus, I figured 'Dread' was not really used very often, and I was the maker of it. Thus, Dreadmaker (and mostly It's just shortened to Dread). Since then, it's been my name for everything online. It's just a habit now. In fact, one of my friends in particular who tends to game with me online calls me Dread in the real world by accident sometimes ;)
 
A long time friend and I came up with it ~7+ years ago. We figured I was born in NY and NYC flowed with Elite, but we just swapped it with numbers for some reason that now escapes me... now it's been used since then for pretty much all online usernames I've needed. Any incarnation of NYC Elite, sometimes just NYC.
 
Well back in middle school was when i first got into gaming. When i started playing rogue spear in about 2002ish i chose the name smochee cuz my last name is smochek and it sounded cool at the time. While playin many people started to say smoochee and it kinda grew on me. And btw this has nothing to do with the movie death to smoochie, I do get a lot of referances to that tho when playing fps's.
 
In-game handle for Valve games: SoMe Slavik DuDe

I made this up when i first started playing on the first eGO servers (Avalanche) until JohnT told me to sign up. Than i started to play lots of old Orange Maps with him lol.

Ok what does it mean? well Slavik is spelled Slavic and it is described to be the Eastern European people Ethnic. I wanted the name to be Generic but Original. Who wants to be kill by some slavic dude?

I have other Handles in games like WoW (Hindenburg-Horde-StormScale) or old Starcraft (DP_Hydralisk and in expansion DP_Lurker)

I used to love that site... haven't seen it in a couple years, i outa check it out.
 
I got parts of my name at different times in my life. I got Pigboy when i was in grade school, cause I was the the kid who loved being outdoors and now matter what always came home completly cover in mud, dirt, grass, ETC. My best friend always used to say to me " Boy Kevin you look like a pig." Soon he just started calling me Pigboy. The name stuck all the way though high school into college. Now my best friend and I both end up a Wayne St University in Detriot. As a freshman you had to take a a foreigen language class. So instead of taking Spanish, French, or something normal I took Latin. Well my best friend just stuck Latin on the front of Pigboy, and I have been called that ever since.
 
Me its 3 years ago I had no username in nothing and all but after i got in a Role Playing Forum of my favorite book serie then i was a elf in that so i went on google (ya i have imagination lol) then i type Elf name then i went on a site andi went it the name starting by Z cuz they were the best then i Took Zadori and my friend Zarhan took is name from there too lol. And i used that name ever since
 
I just made it up when I was playing another game. I think it's some Russian last name, though. o_O
 
my best friends aol name back in the 5th grade or something haha...

liked it so i took it ;D
 
Gattaca was a ok movie, but I use to be Gattaca Sequenc.. and I guess its easier for my gaming buddies to call me Gattaca. Its a far cry better than my other names that Ive used on other games... like Son of magrace for Guildwars, bleeding gums joey for WoW, krsty hrt vlv for my first xbox account, and BrockSamsonono for my FFXI account.
 
Well every friday night back in high school my best friends and I would go to the local lan place and we would all play DOTA (a warcraft 3 map) and I would always play the pandarian brewmaster....so we have Pwnda Bear lol. as for MGeraci2007 thats just my first initial and last name and the year i graduated high school.
 
Not that anyone will read this far in but...


I helped start a clan shortly after DoD came out. We changed our names to those of the pinups of the WWII era in order to "rally the troops" and we beat a hard game on the old dod_hill.
In honor of this successful event, we changed our name to the Buxom Bombshells in June of 2001, and we all took the name of a Buxom Bombshell.
Being Brazilian, I took a close relative to the genre, Carmen Miranda.

If the Buxom Bombshells ever disappears for some reason, I'll revert back to HOT METAL SLUGS, which is another story in itself...
