Strict on Rules

I've taken a lot of time and effort into writing this so I hope you'll read it and respond respectfully. Thanks.

I joined the eGO Warpath server, had some fun, got some points. I was an engineer, had a really nice setup going, was having loads of fun defending, aiding other engineers etc etc blah blah, until my sentry gets destroyed with another engineer standing just below it. When I respawned, instinctively I typed '****!'. I mean come on, can you blame me?

Now, I'm the type of guy who is used to subconsciously ignoring the MotD, so I was unaware of the 'No Swearing' policy eGO enforced (which I really think should be loosened to 'swear sparingly, when appropriate' but you have your opinions and I respect that). I'd willingly follow the rule but I had been uninformed, partly on my mistake of not reading the MotD, but I'd expect in any server that I'd at least get warned not to swear again. Instead, I get kicked by an admin. My points, my builds, whiped... as you can imagine, I was quite mad. I try to rejoin, server full.

10 or so minutes later, I rejoin, and speak with the person that had kicked me. He tells me it's my mistake for not reading the MotD, I try to plead my case and say he should've warned me. The argument continues, and someone else joins my side. He said some remark like 'No swearing is a silly rule, we're adults and adults swear to vent anger. Do you expect us to just say 'oh pussyfeathers'?' I thought it was a fairly funny and valid point, but that same admin from before disagrees and follows up with perma-banning that player. At that point I knew talking to him would be useless so I came here to tell my story.

I don't want that admin punished which is why I've not named him specifically, but what I want is maybe easing up on the rules, in respects that people will get warned not to swear if they haven't read the MotD. I'm pretty sure a lot of other people are like me and don't read them, so to be notified you're violating a rule would be great.

IF YOU DON'T WANT TO READ THAT WALL OF TEXT, HERES A SUMMARY:
I sub-consciously ignore MotDs. I'm sure others do too. I didn't know not to swear. I said '****' and was kicked, when I had a lot of buildings and points. I think I should've been warned. Someone else made a sly remark (see above) and was permabanned. I think he should've been warned, and should be unbanned.

Yes it is true that adults vent their anger with swearing but its not all adults that play the game. I happen to know one of my friends lets his 5 year old cousin play and I'm sure he doesn't want to be asked what certain words mean. Our rules are in place for a reason.
Our rules are pretty simple to follow just read the MOTD and youll be fine. See you in warpath!

usually we warn you about the swearing before you get a boot. All the same, it is on the front page when you join, and it is the admins' decision. Maybe that admin was in a bad mood or something. Anyway now you know for next time. There will be lots more games of warpath for you to get lots of points on

Why not swear around a 5 year old if you're already exposing him to blood, gore, and violence? Seems redundant.

Towards the end it sounds like you're talking down to me, and, as I stated in my post, it isn't about my situation, it's about how admins treat rule-breakers. You can't honestly expect everyone to read the MotD and never break a rule. I think you should make it a rule for admins to warn violators before taking any more serious actions.

I'm very sorry that you had a lot of points and engy equipment built up, but ya know what? Ignorance of the rules is not an excuse. It is your choice to read or not read the MOTD, but don't expect anyone to feel sorry for you because you chose not to read it. We have VERY FEW rules here and we've listed them on that page. Everyone else read them and understands and abides by them. You should not be an exception. As for how you were dealt with, it is up to the admins on the server how they handle it. We have made them admins for a reason and we'll stand behind their decision. As Invalid said, there will be more games and more points.

Why not just read the rules and not make us warn you at all. If you don't like our rules, you don't have to play here. This is not going to be an argument. Thread closed.

Arguing is always a bad idea. Just like with the police... arguing "in the field" will get you no where and you run the risk of getting banned since it disrupts the game. Typing the word only made it worse since it requires more thought than just blurting it out too. Just relax, reread the rules to our servers and come play... that is all any os us want... just to play.

The rules are strict and the admins do their job... it is the reason why most of us like eGO. Many of us play on the server because it is a place to go to NOT have to listen to garbage, spamming, and language. You already admited you had fun with us... so come on back and enjoy some more.
