I know this isn't the most avid RPG crowd I'm talking to here, but for anyone that played it:

Yeah, it's true. In case you hadn't heard they annouced it at E3, and I frankly haven't the slightest idea how to feel about it. :confused:

Nothing on the EA website yet, but the CEO did confirm it

I've got mixed feelings too.

On the one hand, it's a sci-fi MMO instead of fantasy mmo #2132. It's being built by Bioware. And it's KOTOR rather than the movie era Star Wars.

On the other, it's Star Wars which is pretty much as fantasy as sci-fi gets. It's a Star Wars MMO which means baggage that not even Bioware may be able to get out from under. And Lastly, everyone who plays it will roll a Jedi.

I figure I'll wait for some media to come out before I get my hopes up.

Bioware = Great Game.

That's been my experience, at least, in the ten years I've been playing their stuff. MMOs totally depend on the developers. I'm thinking this will be a great game.

BTW, I'm a pretty avid RPG player. I enjoy all genres of games from RTS to RPG to FPS.

It sometimes feels like EVERY franchise is trying to go MMO these days since WOW did so well, eh? First KOTR, and isn't Metel Gear doing an On-Line MMO too? And Halo is doing, I think, either an MMO or was it an RTS?

Either or, it seems like every meeting every game producer has eventually turns to the same train of thought, "How can we emulate the sucess of WOW?"

BUT about MMO KOTR...it sounds like another epic way to suck your life away =)

I look forward to it. :x

But that's because I'm a fan of MMOs (they're so addictive) and I love KotOR. That's pretty much my favorite era in Star Wars.

forget that I'm getting Star Wars The Force Unleashed. But I'll check it out maybe

Bioware = Great Game.

If it was just Bioware's project, I'd be pretty enthusiastic about it. The fact that both EA and LucasArts are also attached makes me fairly dubious though. EA doesn't have the best track record as far as MMOGs go, and LucasArts just hasn't had the best track record in recent years period.

My only hope is that EA and LucasArts just sit back and let Bioware work their magic, and don't try to push what they want too hard. Bioware is a company known for being innovative. Them being pushed by the suits to make "WoW in space" will just doom the project to failure.

Their games are incredible, but the PC games (I've only played KotOR and Jade Empire) seem to be console ports with plenty of bugs. I'd imagine being purchased by EA won't help that at all.

I haven't played an MMO, but KotOR was so amazing I'll probably have to check it out.
