A mod to look out for!

Alright, I'm assuming a majority of you have a Source based game right? If you do be sure to check Insurgency, Its a free Source SDK mod that requires you to have either Source SDK or any HL2/Source engine game. The game takes place in Iraq and you can be either a Marine or an Insurgent (Im making this sound like a Single Player campaign game, it isn't its a death match.) IMO this game is one of the most realistic First person shooters out there, You don't have to believe me but this game feels more realistic than Call of duty 4 (I'm not saying its BETTER but you get the point right) So if you feel like playing a realistic FPS and one of the most popular Source mods check out Insurgency Modern Infantry Combat @ www.insmod.net

this is an awesome mod, really realistic too, you get shot by one bullet and ur dead, though there have been times that i have survived that

I couldn't get into this game. Yes, it's realistic and looks great but I couldn't stand dying from one shot coming from somebody I couldn't even see.

I have tried this, and am a huge fan of realistic shooters. This mod, however, didn't seem fun to me for some reason. I just didn't enjoy the way you move, shoot, etc. It didn't feel visceral at all to me. I wasn't immersed...

They've released a new version of it. 2.1RC fixes many bugs, adds new maps, and just rounds out the game until the 3.0b update is release.

Yeah, I tried it just this week. I played it probably 1-3 hours and just didn't like it.

Well all you have to do is learn all the choke points and use the cover they give you, try playing Sinjar its a great map, and it takes about 3 bullets to put you down, I also forgot to mention you dont have a crosshair and you have to use the Iron sites, which I really enjoy doing btw

Oh and to shape, thats what its like out there, you gotta be careful

Another mod to look into is Breaking Point. It is a single player. The story run's such:

Welcome to an earth occupied by Xen natives. You are part of a small resistance that fights for the reinstatement of mankind against the evil Combine.

"My name is Adam O'Connor. Along with me I have Dani Roberts and Marc Davis. We are rebels in the so called "City"-17. Our resistance to the Combine Overwatch has turned it into a battleground where the fighting is non stop. Some nights are quiet, others, even as daylight breaks, are a living hell. Breaking Point will introduce the player to new combat, and unexplored areas. This mod incorporates new events antecedent of the Black Mesa Incident and will combine stunning visuals and a deep, involving storyline to bring you the best game play experience seen on the Half-Life 2 engine yet.​

Yeah usually mods for hl2 based games only have about 2-5 active servers, this one has about 20 w/ 30 people in each one

I have played this mod on and off since it came out, I find it a great modern shooter! Much of it seems to be based off the infantry aspect of combat in Red Orchestra. I usually play as an insurgent sniper on sinjar (A GAME I CAN ACTUALLY SNIPE IN) It actually takes a few direct hits to a marine's chest to pick him off with the lee enfield scoped, I just love almost everything about it! Actually hadn't played it in a while and tried to play tonight but couldnt, had to install the new version!
