Free weekend - Things to remember

As you should know there is a free weekend starting today where anyone can play TF2 for free for a limited time. Let me just remind everyone of some things to remember during the free weekend:

- There will be TONS of new players who are trying out TF2 for the very first time. Our servers should be full constantly around the clock so players will see our clan servers throughout the server lists during the free weekend and will consider playing at eGO!

- A lot of the new players will not know our servers rules and might do somethings that are against our server rules but remember to remind them NICELY and professionally. Don't get on their case for letting a tiny thing slip, we must show all new players what we are about - Clean servers and great admins!

- IMPORTANT: Remember to say please and thank you's when warning someone! DO NOT say "language" say "Please watch the language on our servers *insert name here*. Thanks (with a big smile and what not)!" This should be done regardless of the free weekend though I do not see it being done all the time.

- Be a little more lenient during the free weekend - make sure players don't think we are a strict and mean admin zone! We're all about having fun!

- Welcome all players to our server, tell them a bit about us, talk in text and mic to make them feel home! Tell them to enjoy their time on the server, check us out on our site (edgegamers.org) and play on our other servers for TF2, we have 11 servers to play on!

- This is the essential time for both Valve and us! After the free weekend when everyone says "Wow TF2 is great! I'm going to buy it. Hmm.. there was that great server I went on, a clan named eGO. I think I'll try to join them!" Be alert and tell players our site and if they are interested in joining.

-Interact with all the other players, say "nice try!" and also talk about strategies, where the enemy is, how you can take them down, etc. Make sure players don't think we're some dead and boring server where nobody talks .

Just a friendly reminder to everyone, you all probably know this but I want to point it out anyway

Right, Regardless they should look at the MOTD. Remind them nicely, but remember that the MOTD pops up right in their face.

Nice post. Also one thing to consider is that non-admin players might called them n00bs for not playing right and it is our job to make them ALL feel welcome. That "extra" warning is not going to ruin the fun, as long as we get more people in.

Just show the great quality of admins and level of maturity we have here on eGO.

Not to push anyone but our arena server isnt in gamtracker. I think this is the best time to put it on gametracker so it could jump start into high rankings. This will probably be taken care of eventually but I think adding it now is the best time to do it.

Reminding them kindly and gentle. i may be a e But i try and Warn players of the rules whenever there broken.... It dont get gentle when they say the n word 3 or 4 times...

Great post thanks for the advice. I cant wait to play with some new people now. And btw there was a time when we were all new and bad so dont call anyone if they do something wrong. If they are the last person alive and lose just say "better luck next time" or "doesnt matter you tried" If you do this they will know we are a good community, we are all helpful and it is more likely for them to buy the game, and btw dont kill them to much.

We should all be friendly to players
that are on our servers, and respect them.
Because if you played on their servers
you wouldn't want them being mean.
I'm sure everyone knows this,
but it's a good reminder.
