i am sick and tired of people going gaga over halo yes the first one was good but 2 and 3 we repeats they we the same game what the hell. every time I hear a person talk about how great Halo is i just lean over and ask if they have heard of a little company called valve, and i ask them if they ever played Hl2 if not I tell them they haven played a great game. Does anyone agree with me or am i taking crazy pills?

Halo is overhyped, just like FFVII, there's no denying it. Is it overrated? Maybe, maybe. I personaly like Halo alot, I'm having fun when I'm playing online or with my friends so I do not care of it's overhyped and overrated. But I run around, screaming "HALO IS DA BEST GAME EVAR ZOMG11!" either. It is argueably the best console shooter (with multiplayer) out there, but that's another topic to discuss...

Ehh, a game as successful as Halo, I wouldn't say it's overrated. It's a great party game. Go over to someone's house, 4 people, sounds like a good time to me!

Just get it for PC. I've got it for computer and it even has support for online multiplayer.

This man speaks truth. Everyone considered FFVII to be the "best RPG of it's day" and beyond. Truth be told, every FF from VII on up to X has been the exact same thing.
Emo/Alone/Troubled pretty boy has to save the world from evil empire/corporation/maniacal villian while somehow, someway connecting with the princess/bartender friend/high social standing girl.
It got boring, and annoying. Now, convoluted stories like in the original Xenogears? It blew any FF out of the water, even today. It's battle system was better, it's story was better, it's characters were better. Yet everyone loved FF, because to be honest FF is the "mainstream" RPG now. It's what people expect a RPG to be modeled off of.
The same is said for Halo. Halo is now mainstream. All three have been doing the exact same thing, maybe some new weapons and new locations...but it's nothing differing from previous versions. Now does this make Halo a bad game? No, it's a very good game. Does it make it a bit overrated though in regards to it's popularity versus it's originality? Very much so.

The First Halo game was actually incredibly good. It deserved all of the praise that it received and it's large following it created. Halo had sold gameplay filled with interesting concepts for its time, also it had a pretty good story.
Halo 2 and 3 were not as good. The gameplay in these two games never evolved, they remained the same game but with a new graphics engine and multiplayer components.
Is the Halo series overrated? Yes, of course. At the same time most game series are overrated and overhyped. It's the gaming culture, where entire series are stung along by fanboys and fangirls.

Halo is like the bad squel that never dies because it has a solid fan base they would spend 100+ bucks if they said halo 4 special edition they havent changed the game just rehashed same environents and rushed games to sell millions

I'll give you post-7 FFs, but the SNES FFs were a different animal. 4 and 6 easily had as deep a plot as Xenogears (and I liked both series).
I think the thing to remember is that Halo is an excellent console fps. The same way FF7 was the first big 3d rendered RPG at the time, neither of them really had to compete with anything (can anyone remember any console shooters from the time Halo was released?). So it stands out in peoples memories because it's the only thing on a console from that era that comes close to what people were used to on a PC.
I'd say something like GoW is far less deserving of the hype than Halo ever was.
Care to say why? At least they are introducing more gameplay elements, which halo 2 did not do.

People think the second game of a series is always bad, simple as that.
"OMFG, THE SECOND OF THREE GAMES?! IT JUST HAS TO BE BAD LIKE ALL THE OTHER GAMES WITH 2 AT THE END OF THEIR NAME!!! LIKE HALO 2 OR DEVIL MAY CRY 2 DUDE!!!"

I LOVED HALO but number 2 and 3 kinda brought me down. Me and my buddys use to play halo all the time its was the best. Halo 2 was ok but halo 3 we didnt play at all really. Got our Katana swords and quit. We still play halo on Reg Xbox

I always hated halo, but not necessarily because I thought it was a bad game. In fact, im sure halo was a fine game in its own right and did a lot of good things.
What happened was that it became THE game to own, and in fact, those that i knew that had an xbox began to act as if it was the greatest thing EVER. It got really annoying to the point where they acted like nothing was even close to as good as halo. I admit, 4 player multiplayer on the same screen is fun, and for social playing that is always good. But, give me a mouse and a keyboard and please shut those people up who go on and on about how halo is so much better than anything that ever came out.
