This thread is to discuss anything related to Insurgency (INS).

I am very happy that we got a server in this, I actually have more time playing INS then DODs. I think it was a great idea to get a server because besides LIGS, we are the only other major American clan with servers in the game. The game has a lot of European servers since it is being used in a gaming league for Europe. This should give us a good player to build on for server traffic.

In regards to playing the game, Ill list a couple pros and cons of each side and the guns.

For all classes:

Frag grenade and pistol

The pistol and frag are basically identical for both sides, so I will only list pros and cons once for each.

Pistol

Pro- quicker then reloading, fast shooting, accurate, good at CQB

Cons- will run out of ammo quickly

Grenade

Pros- can be thrown around corners, large kill/dmg radius

cons- Long time to throw and limited range

Riflemen

Riflemen-M16

Pros- Accurate gun, three round burst is accurate for close and medium range

Cons- Iron sight is huge and takes up most of the screen.

Riflemen- Ak-47

Pros- High visibility iron sight, fully auto

Cons- less accurate then M16

Support classes

Support-M249 SAW

Pros- Fast fire rate, large drum capacity

Cons- Hard to see iron sights

Support- RPK-74

Pros- Medium fast fire, easy to see iron sights( same as AK-47), single shot

Cons- less ammo per drum, frequent reloads

Commander classes
Sergeant- M4

Pros- Fully auto, can have aimpoint scope( magnified red dot), accurate, good CQB

cons- aimpoint scope is hard to use at close range, normal iron sight works better, but takes up more view space.

Cell leader- AK-74u

Pros- Full auto, good at CQB, easy to see iron sight

Cons- inaccurate at range

Cell leader- (single shot rifle)

Pros- single shot, highly accurate, high damage, almost always one hit kill

Cons- Worst iron sight in the game, VERY hard to see, single shot only

Marksmen classes

USMC marksmen- M14

Pros- Easy to see scope, bipod, lots of ammo, fast firing

Cons- hard to use for close range sniping

Insurgent marksmen- SVD

Pros- fast shooting, medium zoomed scope, good for close and mid range sniping

Cons- very small scope, hard to see out off

Insurgent marksmen- Lee l97 bolt action

Pros- Good scope, accurate at very long range, even when standing

cons- bolt action, hard for follow up shots

Demolition classes

Grenadier- M16+m203

Pros- rifle included in class, able to arc grenades over walls

Cons- Less range then Insurgent demo class, long reload time

RPG-7

Pros- Very long ranged, accurate when using iron sights

cons- No rifle, only pistol

Shotgun Classes

The engineer and Sapper shotguns perform nearly identical so I will only list the pros and cons once

Pros- Fast firing, good at close and <35 meters range

cons- not good at long range

Ill go a little more indepth with what each classes role on the battlefield is when I have more time :P

Well I have played this game in the past (Before it was downloadable from steam) and thought that it was a neat concept. Im downloading it at the moment, and should be playing some today, so I'll post my review later. I liked how there are different classes, and not just pick a weapon and go. WEll its 77% done and im dling at 1.5mb/s so I'll post some more review later

I gotta re-download HL and get this game. It sounds cool.

Ok just to mentioned what I said before. We could use a few extra admin commands on this server to maintain it.

"sm_scrambleteams"
"sm_forcespec"

I been having trouble trying to balance the team by asking kindly. Also a lot of people seem to go afk, and sometimes block narrow areas, so I need to be able to force spectate them without losing the amount people on the server.

Additionally the server needs an MOTD as most people playing don't have any idea on the rules on the server.

Regarding Friendly Fire, admins need to watch out for offenders that keep shooting their teammates and get kicked, and return to repeat the same thing intentionally, so keep an eye out for that.

I really like the support weapons as I can lay a lot of fire power close and long range. Similar to DOD:S bullpup support weapon except this time these guns got bipods.

Overall, my first time playing the game, its pretty interesting.

The one thing about Insurgency that is important to remember. It's basically one shot one kill...very easy to die.

I find the AK one of the best weapons, its range is perfect for anything I need plus its full auto which seems highly controllable. I also have a sweet replacement skin for it ^^

Also, I little tip for the RPG class, stick with a rifleman to help protect you, it definitely helps when charging in on marines who are capping a point.

Note that if you played Insurgency before it came out on Steam (the older version is called RC2) you will NOT be able to play on the eGO server, which is Steam. If this is the case, when you attempt to join the server you will get a "server is out of date" error.
To fix this you need to install the Steam version of the mod and use it.
I spent a lot of time trying to join the new server this morning and failing! !bang

This game is interesting.. just kinda difficult to find your enemies :S

I have played this game before, and so now it says I have 2 different insurgencys so should I delete one of them? the old one?

How do you change your class in this game? >_< I was stuck as a rifleman constantly.

So by the sounds of it i need Hl2 to play these mods. Hrm. Quick! to the steam store! Woosh!

Guys (and Ladies) Insurgency is free, and our server is 17th?
First person to kill me in the server gets cake, (After my 1 day update time, surely I have a problem :O)

You forgot a weapon... The sapper class for insurgents also has acess to a m1 garand like rifle (forgetting name), I have been a fan of INS for a long time. May I suggest we make the server 24/7 sinjar?

Personally I don't think its that great the flow on the commands seem slugish and the gameplay at distance is determined by how far can you video card render the scene and POV, Ill stick to tf2, cs:s, DoD:s, and pokemon for adults, now saying this is there CQC maps only that I could try to alter my vision of this game? AKA Streets in Americas Army
