Pop vs Soda

Im truly tired of being made fun of when i say "im going to get a pop". POP is the correct way to describe a carbonated soft drink.

Would you like a kleenex or a piece of tissue paper to wipe up your tears ya frickin' yank. IT'S COKE!!!!!

And I'm going to need a self adhesive bandage.... also known as a damn BANDAID..... in the morning when MH wakes up and sees this =X

The most hilarious generic name i ever saw was "Dr. Thunder"

I dropped a carton of milk laughing when i saw it.

The chart says that 50-80% of people in/around Oklahoma City call it "coke". That's absolutely ridiculous. I worked in a restaurant for 4 years and only had one person call it "coke".

Customer: Yeah, can I get a coke? :)
Me: Sure, I'll be right back. :)
Customer: Wait, I haven't told you what kind I want yet! :(
Me: ...what?
Customer: I said I want a coke, but I didn't tell you what kind yet!
Me: Um... what kind of... *shudder*... coke would you like? :(
Customer: A pepsi, please. :)
Me: ... is coke alright?
Customer: That's fine. :)
Me: !bang

That's about how it went. Anyway, most people around OKC call it pop. I call shenanigans against the pop vs soda chart!!!

Edit: I just realized that one of the universities that made the chart is East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. Knowing this, we REALLY can't trust it now.

Nope, SODA. its the Brand name and its internationally known. Pop is only nation-wide. If you enjoy traveling or enjoy other cultures, its Soda!

^ to glitches topic on "Coke" ... I understand what you mean.
I go to a restaurant and ask for Coke... they ask me "what kind?"

I mean how specific do you have to get when you ask for coke?
Or maybe their thinking about the drug and that probably comes
in different colors and powders.

Its more understandable if they say we only carry pepsi... but o wells.

Did the guy have a bad hair-day, or did he have a nice due? :p

What is wrong with you people? It's COKE! My favorite coke is Diet Sprite. Pop and Soda are just silly. What one calls carbonated beverages is one of the quickest ways to tell if someone ain't from around these parts, that and what they call a sandwich.

my best friend says pop

i really only say something like "want a drink, or can i get a drink from the store" and then just say the name of the drink...

i live in Oklahoma City, btw

-om?

I hate when people call a soda: COKE. you ask for a Coke you're getting a damn Coca-Cola punk!

and i say soda. the 80-100% part that says texans say coke... well its probly true. but i surely doubt its that high. and i think its retarded. As far as POP. when i was 9 i visited my dad's family in michigan and they said "You wanna Pop?" i was like "Um. what?" and ever since then i've made fun of the term. mostly out of fun than meanness. but yeah its soda.

So, if you go into a resturant and you want a mountain dew, you say Can i have a coke? Please refer to this example AWKWARD conversation:

Go fetch me a "switch" while your at it.!argh (otherwise known as a large stick to beat children with)

I've always called it 'pop', even though I'm from the heart of Oklahoma, decidedly "Coke" country. I've also laughed at those who call it Coke, because the conversation invariably goes like this:

"You want something to drink?"
"Yeah, a Coke"
"What kind?"
"How about Dr. Pepper?"

ahh... good times :p

I agree. I don't think I've ever heard a Canadian call it soda.. What kind of word is that anyways? And yes... Coke is better then Pepsi, 99% of fastfood restaurants only offer Coca-Cola products. Although!!! Dr. Pepper = Greatest thing ever = Pepsi product O.o

It's Soda. End of story.

Pop sounds so stupid, I know I lived in the Twin Cities for a couple years and I couldn't stand it. Then I moved back to Milwaukee, where soda is king.

As for calling it Coke.... LOL. Where is the demographic that calls all soda's Pepsi. Just redonkulous.

Ok, what happens when you ask the waiter for a pop?

Waiter: What would you like to drink?
MH: A pop, please
*waiter 'pops' you in the face*
