B||oodsire, co-star in the -AA- Sniper Video made a new Frag Video.
With THIS! video he wants to proof that the pyro doesn't take skill to play. This is a very sarcastic video and should not be taken seriously as a "I'm super awesome and pwn everything" video.
If you want to read the whole discussion about this video and B||oodsire's oppinion click here.

He's not that great with Pyro. He's pretty good with the Axetinguisher though - I could never use that weapon. Flaregun's pretty useless to me, I like the shotgun more. And somehow, I have the most "Pyro shotgun kills" on HLXstats. o-O

He does a lot of the things I do as a Pyro - airblast, screwup ubers, but he has never flamed someone, airblasted them in the air and killed them in midair with the shotty. It's real satisfying when that happens. :)

Hopefully people will pick up tips from this, not just run in and flame.
The pyro actually takes a bit of skill to play if you want to play it the correct way.

I/He never said he's a great pyro, that's also not the point of the video. The point is that the pyro class doesn't take much skill to play. Its skill ceiling is pretty slow. Even the "advanced" techniques are used easily.

I've read the thread he posted the video in on Steam forums, and he said he wasn't a good Pyro..But from that video alone he is better than most career Pyros out there. Pyro doesn't need a lot of skills, I'll give you that. But there can also be "skilled" Pyros..I'm one of them. I don't blindly charge W+M1 all of the time. xD He's a good ambush Pyro, but I hate the backburner with a passion.

Really, I'd say 11 hours is a sufficient amount of time to get down the basics of one of the TF2 classes, especially if one is a FPS veteran.

That's not to understate what he does in the video. Admittedly, the guy is a good pyro, but he also does some stuff that I strongly doubt most new pyros could pull off reliably. Just because he got a good grasp of the class so fast doesn't mean that the class lacks any skill to play, and I think he evidences that himself by the fact that he's clearly not just doing mouse 1 + w. A lot of people like to say that that's all there is to a pyro, but that's obviously not the case.

Now, I wouldn't say pyro is the most complex class in TF2 (although the pyro update did give the class some more complexity). It's a fairly straightforward class in the way the soldier and heavy are. It's mainly just point and kill. But anyone who plays soldier or heavy frequently would be quick to tell me that there's more to the class than just that, and I'd agree. It's the same with pyros. It's a good class to start off with because you can get kills, but the class definitely still takes some learning before you've truly figured out everything it can do. Maybe it's just because this is my first online FPS, but that's true for me, and after 100 hours, I still feel like I'm learning how to get better.

Of course, I also suspect I could make a video making me look like a pretty incredible player if I cut out all the parts where I screw up, too. ;)

Everyone who knows atleast abit about TF2 knows how to play pyro. The "advanced" techniques are learned easily. You whack your head against the skill ceiling after a few hours already.

Ofcourse he is alot better than most "career" pyros. He got over roughly 700 hours of TF2. He knows enough about TF2 to be good/decent with any class. Any class in a skilled player's hand will do well. You don't need to practice much with the pyro if you know what to do. It's easy. :p

Very cool video.

I agree that the skill ceiling for Pyro may be low, but it seems to be a class where learning how and when to effectively use your skill with the weapons is just as big a part as actually using them. Using the maps well and working with your team effectively can make a big difference in any Pyro's performance. Of course, luck is always a factor, too. ;)

Pyros are at the bottom of my list when it comes to skill level for classes...All too often i get killed by a pyro who flames around a corner and is faster than me and i cant see a darn thing. I can kill em more than i cant, but they take 1% talent 99% the ability to left click and run...just my opinion, i needed to vent a little over pyros cause i hate em so much lol !bang !argh

That's the exact same thing for every other class, too. . .

the game has been out roughly 8760 hours, he has played 923.9 hours.

Its more impressive to flame someone, air blast them into the air, and axe them in mid air :)
