** INS MOD ** How to install skins for better Weapon Sights!

Well Being new here,I thought I would contribute to this Glorious Place in the form of a How-TO of a Sort.

This tutorial explains how to install weapon skins for INS Mod,

These skins allow EoTech (or similar) sights to be installed on your the weapons.

  • [*]First Step:

Head on over to INS Mod Forums to download your favorite skins.

  • Second Step

You need some file compression software ( I like WinRar http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar380.exe)

  • Third Step

Go to

"C:\Program files\Steam\steamapps\username\insurgency\insurgency\"

You need to make two folders here one named "Materials" and one named "Models"

  • Fourth Step

After creating the folders you now need to locate your downloaded skins. They will be in RAR format.
Open one of them and locate the materials and models folders.
Next select both, right click select "Extract to Specified Folder": navigate to the folder described in Step 3, then Click Extract

Rinse and Repeat for each skin downloaded

For You Lazy People ; ) I've compressed the files you need and alls you have to do is download and extract to

"c:\program files\steam\steamapps\YOUR USERNAME\insurgency\insurgency\"

how is this not considered a cheet?

an item that is available to some players but not all, that may give them an advantage due to them having it. in my book that's the definition of a hax
 
It's available through the INS mod forums...I'd say that's pretty easy to get.
 
The INS developers are fully aware of this, but they don't seem to be against it and actually appreciate custom mods since their game is a mod itself. I would say, everyone should be able to download it since we don't have control over what custom models they install.
 
i still dont understand...

was not an eGO just band for useing a "mod" to extend shadows of players beyond what is normal giving him an advantage other players didnt have.

so i can develop an aim bot and simply call it a mod and its ok? ya its my improved targeting system mod. loosely called "sights"

The extending shadows actually gives away the player, just like the bright skin mods etc... These are just skins that help improve aim, now if it had like a targeting system to it then that would be over the line, and besides the sights on these guns could actually be found on guns today

No, that type of mod is obviously stepping across the boundaries, and so it would be obvious in-game since it acts like a wallhack. The same goes for aimbots, using common sense, you can already draw the line between what is accepted and what is not.

Ah sorry, replied late didn't see Neo's post. But what he says also rings true.
 
Official ruling:

If the developer's of this game moderate their forums, which they do, and allow these modifications...they are allowed. The aimpoint sights and eotechs are based off real life sights, not a made up, "shadow extending" sort of mod. If you can add it to the weapon in real life, you are allowed the sights in this game. Additionally, the player in question Nightmare has since been Vac Banned. THAT is a hack.

Furthermore, arguing on these forums continuosly is not what this division needs. Please refrain from arguing about something on a How-to. This is how to install skins. If you dont feel the eotech is fair...dont install it. Simple as that.

Well you don't have too. I don't plan on it. I highly enjoy the standard iron sight's for the ak47 and ak74 because they do not block any part of your vision. These new sites might help some people, but they seem obtrusive and unnecessary. I hate having to keep my crosshair directly on something to see it. I find it too frustrating to have any part of my peripheral vision obstructed while using the iron sights.
 
I dont get the point of using the EOTech for the Ak-47, It makes the sight larger and harder to see out of!
